Elite League The Elite League has really taken stride in the third year of its existence. Our Elite league is two sessions long. We have a division for 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. The first session runs from November to December, and the second session runs from January to February. Each session is 7 weeks in length, with every Sunday allowing teams to play 2 games each day. The final weekend of the league is a single elimination tournament. This year the first session saw 19 different teams participating. Teams that were participating were: Rensselaer Central, Lake Central, North Judson, Kankakee Valley, North White, Crown Point, Munster, and Lowell. The second session saw 25 different teams including: Rensselaer Central, Crown Point, Kankakee Valley, Pioneer, West Central, North Judson, Twin Lakes, Lake Central, Hebron, North White, Knox, and Winamac. This Elite League has really enabled the Rensselaer program to grow each and every year. The players are getting a lot of games against some really good competition. As you can see, we are getting a wide variety of competition with really big schools, and then some smaller schools. I encourage everyone to come out and watch some games in this League. They are ultra competitive and great youth games, with spectacular talent. Rensselaer Central’s records thus far through the league are as follows: 4th Grade: 11-7 5th Grade: 7-11 6th Grade: 7-12 We are always looking for volunteers to help with concession stands, take tickets, and keep the score clock or scorebook for games. We host 20-25 games each Sunday. That is 20-25 hours of basketball that needs coverage. There are only 2 more Sundays left in the League for the year. The final regular season play is February 12th, and the Tournament is on February 19th.

Boys Youth Basketball I am excited to announce that our youth basketball has expanded. The youth basketball is a critical part of our program that will enable us as a program to win at the level in which we all want to win. The program has grown so much in three years that I am happy to ask for help. As of right now, we need more help! There are two segments within our youth basketball program. The first is our in-house, or recreational little league basketball. It has been called Rensselaer Boys Youth Basketball for the past three years. The practices are throughout the week, and the games are played on Saturdays in November and December. We have three divisions inside our in-house league. We have separate leagues for K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th grades. We have had over 150 boys each of the last two years. The other segment of our youth basketball program is our Elite Program. This program would be comparable to a travel group for our youth players. We hold tryouts for these teams. This team practices during the week, and has games on Sunday. The teams play games from November-December, and then again January-February for 6-week sessions. This program plays against other schools across the Northwest Indiana Region. We host games every Sunday from 12pm-6pm. We have had 19 teams come to Rensselaer this fall to play. We have had Lake Central, Munster, Crown Point, Kankakee Valley, Twin Lakes, North White, Tri County, Pioneer, South Newton, Winamac, and Lowell all bring teams to play us throughout the three years of its existence. So, as you can there are a lot of things going on in the basketball program. We need your help. Here is what I am asking as of right now. I am looking to develop a board for Boys Youth Basketball. This board would assist me in the day-to-day operations of our youth basketball program. Here are some of the things that the board would help with: Recreational League: Building Supervisors, League Supervisors, Practice Operations, Game Operations, Draft Day Operations/Organization, Registration, T-Shirt Orders, and Official Scheduling. Elite League: Tryout Evaluation, Concessions Supervisor, Building Supervisors, Game Day Operations, Game Scheduler, Official Scheduling, and Worker Schedule Director. I am looking for 5-7 people that have time to donate, have an interest in basketball, have a enormous amount of energy, positive-attitude, and enjoy working with the youth basketball kids.
