Photographic exhibition of black-faced spoonbills at MinJhih Civic Center

In order to welcome the black-faced spoonbills’ coming, the photographic exhibition of black-faced spoonbills is going to be held during Nov.4th -28th at the lobby at MinJhih Civic Center. Both the fellows of Civic Center and residents are welcomed.

The secretariat stated that, Black-Faced Spoonbill Conservation Association, which is noted for the preservation of ecological environment and the black-faced spoonbills were invited again for displaying their works of photography of the black-faced spoonbills for a total of 46 pieces of works. The topic of exhibition this year is

“soaring with the black-faced spoonbills”. The secretariat also indicated that black-faced spoonbills hibernate by passing through from Korea to China, then to several outlets of river in Tainan, among which, the main habitat lies in Zenwung River. It is thus clear that, the achievement of preservation of Tainan City Hall is as well recognized by the spoonbills.

The president of the Black-Faced Spoonbill Conservation Association, Huang Fu Sing, said that the association has made great efforts to make connection with international conservation organizations. At the present stage, the association also cooperates with Tainan City Hall, finding that there were abundant ecology near the campus and the surroundings of DingShan primary school where had been closed.

The secretariat expressed that, the exhibition time is from Nov.4th to 28th , 9am to 5pm at the hall of MinJhih Civic Center; if there is any need for tour guide as a group of visitors, please contact 06-6322231#6617, Ms. Juang, the secretariat.

Athletics Day of South district of Tainan Translated by Burton Chiu

Athletics day of south district will be held in Sinying stadium on Dec. 12th to 15th.

There are twelve competitions for people to participate. The athletics day involves

skating, dancing, Kendo, yuanji dancing, lawn bowling, woodballing, gateballing, slow

softball and other entertainments, within these 9 events there is 116 people joined, and the

application ends on Nov. 19th.

South district council said that apart from the sports events, there are 37 sections of

Taiwanese culture and agriculture products exhibition. With the variety of events, we

welcome all the people from the country to join this magnificent event.

182 ART SPACE Translated by Wei-Jen Li

182 Art Space, located at Sinmei Street, is an art gallery in Tainan. Being surrounded in a lot of historical heritages, 182 Art Space here as a new art gallery shows a high contrast in Sinmei Street.

The host, Mr. Chen Zheng-Jie, indicated that the art market in Tainan shows the high potential for arts and culture development. 182 Art Space is open to encourage artists in the young generation to chase their dreams. It provides a platform for the artists to extremely release their imagination. “I hope to help those young artists who have few opportunities to present their artworks.” Chen Zheng-Jie said.

182 Art Space is established in November 2013 in Tainan. It provides a space for young artists to hold the exhibition and fulfill their dreams. Besides, there are also a café and a lounge bar. Visitors can thus admire the artworks and discuss with the artists.

There have been already many young artists, collectors and reviewers gathering in 182 Art Space. In every one and a half month, a new exhibition will be released there. Mr. Chen Zheng-Jie plans to promote 182 Art Space and develop an art village to attract more international artists visiting Tainan for art communication.

2014 Luo Tian Da Jiao (羅天大醮) in Nan Kun Shen Dai Tian Temple

Luo Tian Da Jiao, the most important and biggest

ritual in Taoism, is going to be held in Nan Kun Shen Dai Tian Temple on Nov. 26th, 2014. It is the second time to have Luo Tian Da Jiao in Nan Kun Shen Dai Tian Temple in the past 350 years, while the first time was held in 1968. Therefore, people are looking forward to this event very much. It is estimated that there are more than 13,000 idols from other temples which has the relationship with Nan Kun Shen Dai Tian Temple will be brought to attend Luo Tian Da Jiao, and the host is going to apply for Guinness World Records.
