Hello Defence Families!

I am aware that quite a few of you have recently said goodbye to Mum or Dad and it will be a long 2 month wait for many of you. While a lot of our kids are used to these absences and seem to bounce through life without too much worry, I am also well aware that these times can create uncertainty for some and they may need some support. All kids are different and can react in their own special way. I am keeping in contact with the teachers here regarding any reactions they might notice and it would be great if you could let us know how things are going, or if you have any clues to help us make school easier during these months.

As a spouse I also know how hard it is to find time for a cuppa and a chat while your partner is away so don’t forget our weekly Morning Tea. We have a great time and would welcome you whole heartedly! Tuesday Morning 8.30am. Meet us at the Front office.

Cheers, Veronica Merton DSTA [email protected]

The 2G class have been very busy with a change of teacher the last three weeks and we have been working very hard on our class focus, we are looking at listening and speaking appropriately. We have been busy making trips to the garden, learning about plant lifecycles and asking questions about how to grow a sunflower. We have been learning how to sound out the days of the week and the months of the year, we spend every morning looking at consonant sounds and vowel sounds, digraphs, graphs, trigraphs and blends. We have been learning about the links between multiplication and division and we also learnt other strategies like fact families, repeated addition, worded problems, groups of (arrays) and we enjoyed playing the maths game 21.
