A second cohort of ten Year 11 students from Cobar High School have graduated this week after participating in training
with Wade Greenwood from GRIND Consultancy at CSA Mine. In addition to the qualifications they have gained, the pilot program has provided students with hands on experience on a
mine site and an insight into the opportunities available to them in the mining industry.
Whilst they have been constructing the new Cobar Hospital, Hutchinson Builders have provided many opportunities for students studying VET to access Work Placement onsite. The
partnership Hutchinson Builders has created with Cobar High School has been invaluable to both parties.
Yesterday we had a special visit from Alex and Dean from Fire and Rescue NSW Station 256 in Cobar. They spoke to staff and students about the importance of smoke alarms, watching while
your cooking and gave some fire safety tips, They demonstrated what happens when oil gets too hot and what happens when you try to put out an oil fire with water. What an amazing display and
such valuable information for our students. We would like to thank both Dean and Alex and Station 256.
