    INVITATION

STPs towards Global Platforms for Sustainable Development by Diverse Human Eco-Networks - Lets take off for future and create our prosperity!

In the wave of globalization, economy and industrial activities are performed beyond the

framework of a nation. Especially, the development of economy and industrial activities in Asia

is fast and expanding. For further industrial and economic advancement, the sustainable

development of STPs is required. In order to realize the sustainable development of STPs, we

have to recognize the Asian diversity and the importance of human environment conscious

    networks among the ASPA members.

Anyone is born and living under different environment around us, i.e, home, working place,

region, tradition, culture, religion and nation. The great diversity of this human environment

produces diverse sense of values. Interactions among diverse sense of values are indispensable

to stimulate personal creativity and intuition for new ideas and innovation.

The formation of the diverse human environment conscious networks=Eco Networks is an

essential way for STPs to be global platforms for sustainable development.

In the 19th ASPA 2015 Conference, Japan, we suggest the following theme :

STPs towards Global Platforms for Sustainable Development by Diverse Human Eco-Networks - Let's take off for future and create our

    INTRODUCTION

At the beginning of year 2003, the subject of establishing a

Science and Technology Park (STP) was shaped in the research

and technology committee of Hamedan Provincial Organization.

A strategic research study to determine potentials and capabilities

was provided by a joint committee from university and industry

sector. Finally Hamedan STP as a home provincial technology

companies and as an incubator of start-up technology business

founded in 2008. Hamedan STP functions by providing office and

lab space to tenant companies, in a complex of multi-user and

single-user buildings, and by providing professional services and

support programs to those companies. Hamedan STP is supported

by Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and Science and

Technology Vice-Presidency and also by Private Inner Incomes in

    annual budget.

Director of the HSTP was selected as one the best technology

    directors in IRAN in 2013.

According to the Development Law of IRAN, Science and

Technology Parks are considered as free commercial zones and are

supposed to be active in three layers as to the figure 2.

pressure sensors, which is placed inside the insole. Through contact force sensor array of

flexible fabric fibers it monitors the pressure of human feet on the insole. Obtained signal

is transmitted by a wireless to determined user terminals process data on Android / iOS

platform. The Smart Insole can be used by diabetic patients and the health of the elderly to

monitor foot pressure distribution, can also be used in some sports athletes and enthusiasts

for analysis and improvement of their motor-walking skills, and also can be used as

another input peripherals for interactive games to enhance the game's participation.

3.Smart cushionSmart cushion is a high-tech product for measuring the pressure distribution of the sitting

posture, remind the tester, to have a rest or change the posture at appropriate time.

SOFTCEPTORTM flexible fabric fiber pressure sensor was put inside the cushion. It can

monitor and measure the posture pressure distribution in real-time through design method

of flexible fabric fiber array sensor contact force. Also it can alert the incorrect posture via

the posture judgment. The smart cushion has variety of applications for different groups

for health signs monitoring, and can be valuable for scientific researcher, office worker

    and the elderly.

KRP is now 25 years oldKyoto Research Park (KRP) has celebrated its 25th anniversary in October 2014. On October 8th,

250 guests from local government, academia, and industry members attended the 25th

    anniversary celebration event.

KRP was opened in 1989 as the first and only private owned research park in Japan. It was

opened with support from local government and industry. After 25 years from its opening, KRP has developed to host 340 tenants and a

daytime working population of 4,000 people.

The accumulation of industrial support institutions of both prefectural and city government in KRP is a very unique characteristic. This

enables wide variety of support services for regional SMEs, making KRP a one-stop service point of the region.

Recent TopicsNewest building built in KRP is the Kyoto Municipal Institute of Industrial Technology

and Culture / Building #9 Complex, which opened in 2010. It serves as the new

landmark for west area of KRP. Venture companies who grew up in KRP, and Kyoto

Universitys new innovation base are some of the residents of this building.

In 2011, KISTIC building was renewed to become the new collaborative R&D lab space

for tenants. 2 national R&D projects in the field of bio-analytics and optical processing

reside in the building, allowing local SMEs to rent state-of-art instruments on hourly

basis. Kyoto Craftsmen Studio, a learning program for young traditional craftsmen to

develop new product using traditional techniques are also located in KISTIC.

Other innovative activities also take place at KRP. A platform activity to support local

manufactures to develop new lab tool products for life science, especially stem cell and

tissue engineering, is very active. We are seeing new products coming out from the

member companies. Open innovation matching between global enterprises and local

SMEs is also active. Local SMEs can either propose their technology, or utilize the

unused intellectual properties of large enterprises.

We will put our effort for further development of our park as well as strengthening these

new business creation activities. We aim to make KRP more active and lively for people

and new ideas to gather, connect, and create new innovation.

KRP as the innovation hubUpon 25th anniversary, KRP presented a new concept,

Innovation Hub KRP (iHub KRP). This is a

concept based on all-Kyoto agreement identifying the

future image of Kyoto called Kyoto Vision 2040. A

key industrial feature in this vision is the Kyoto

Innovation Belt. It is a corridor where innovative

players such as universities, research institutions,

leading companies, are accumulated. Since KRP is

located in the center of this belt, KRP aims to become

the innovation hub to link players and ideas.

KRP, along with local government and industry, also aims to identify and set up an Innovation Ecosystem unique to Kyoto. In this

ecosystem, KRP serves as a catalyst to enhance new innovations, connecting players like people and companies with new information and

    technology.

To realize iHub KRP concept, we must strengthen our parks function in both hardware (buildings and facilities) and software (new

business creation and business acceleration support activities). By doing so, we aim to achieve not only the innovation hub function (iHub

KRP), but also the words of I have KRP from players in Kyoto and the world.

KRP and ASPAWe have entered into an era of global collaboration. We have seen our tenants expanding their

business in Asian countries. KRP wants to actively support companies who are going out to seek for

new possibilities, and also coming in to seek for new possibilities in Japan. We aim to become the

hub for connecting regional players for new innovation. Not only that, we also aim to become the

hub for connecting Kyoto and the World as the global gateway.

One way to achieve the global gateway is to collaborate through ASPA. Together with ASPA, we

have had 3 Business Meeting ASIA held at KRP in 2008, 2010, and 2013. This activity took place to enhance interregional collaboration of

    companies.

Another way to achieve the global gateway is to build concrete relationships with ASPA members. In August, we have signed our first

MOU of sister park collaboration with Hsinchu Science Park. Through this MOU, we aim to build a new bridge of innovation between

Taiwan and Japan. We want to connect more bridge of mutual collaboration with different regions.

Looking into the next 25 years of KRP, becoming the innovation hub of the region and becoming the global gateway for the world are

essential to us. We believe that we can learn more from each other through ASPA networks and make a better world through collaboration

between ASPA members to achieve this.
