New Soil Security provides increased agricultural production and
environmental services from grazing and farm land via direct
management, monitoring and decision-support tools.
Desert to Grasslands in One Year - Perennial Rivers in Five Years
Eight Inches of New Topsoil in One Year
Cimarron Farm, NSS HQ, St. Albans, VT
Dimbangombe Ranch, Africa Centre For Holistic Management, Zimbabwe
Poor Land and the NSS SolutionCritical ecosystem services are generated and regulated by carbon in topsoil, including agricultural
production, water provision and purification, atmospheric regulation and natural hazards mitigation.
NSS rapidly sequesters carbon in new topsoil, enables others to do so and monitors, quantifies and valuates the resulting ecosystem services benefits.
Rapid topsoil formation on agricultural, grazing and desert land directly addresses natural
resource problems at local-global scales, including:
Climate change mitigation and adaptation
Increased food production
Water storage and purification in soils and aquifers, dwarfing dam storage potential
Mitigation of flooding, drought, wildfire, erosion, dust-storms and ocean dead-zones
CURRENT Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) Markets are growing fast.
Water is “the new oil.” Currently $425 Billion annually, $1Trillion annually by 2013.
Global carbon market may exceed $3 Trillion by 2020
USDA Office of Ecosystem Service Markets Management Priority: Soil Carbon Measurement.
Wetlands and Habitat Mitigation Banking: $3.4 billion annually in the US, up to $10 billion annually by 2020.
NEW PES market opportunities through topsoil
formation:
Natural hazards mitigation
Municipal water provision through:
Increased infiltration of
precipitation resulting in
groundwater recharge and
purification
Restoration and flow
maintenance of surface waters
Water rights sales and leasing
enabled by reduced irrigation
New Soil Security Summary
The business of New Soil Security (NSS) is:
1. Rapid topsoil formation and restoration of desertified land
2. Monetizing the results through ecosystem services markets: food, carbon, water, biodiversity and natural hazards mitigation
NSS profits through:
1. Land restoration management contracts on large land holdings
2. Decision-support and networking technology for farmers, ranchers, governments, ecosystem services aggregators and policymakers
3. Ecosystem services quantification via soil monitoring and modeling
These three business units support each other to achieve a profitable whole with diversified revenue streams.
A two-year, revenue-generating corporate development and R&D phase is planned to:
1. Scientifically validate our management processes and technologies with Cornell University
2. Build out the New Soil Matrix decision-support system and populate AI modeling with land-performance and financial data
3. Demonstrate large-scale land improvement at a profit, leading to internally financed R&D and expansion
22 Quantifiable Ecosystem Services (ES) are
generated through Rapid Topsoil Formation.
Those that can provide or need critical ES are our Market:
Farmers, ranchers, pastoralists
Land owners and investment groups
Native nations and rural communities
Cities and governments
Policy planners at local-continental-global scales
ES-dependent or regulated companies
ES project developers, brokers, traders

New Soil Security Land Management
NSS offers a total land restoration service enabling individual and communal land owners to profitably improve land and soil.
NSS Land Management serves cities and states by converting desertified watersheds and regions into grasslands with effective water cycling, for instance around dry US or Middle-Eastern cities.
Groundwater rechargeRestoration of spring and stream flowReduced irrigation, increased productionMinimized flooding, wildfire and dust-storms
NSS serves our clients by establishing and operating optimized livestock, carbon and water sequestration enterprises on large land bases, with commodity livestock ROI for clients between 6.5% and 20% annually.
Livestock value-add enterprises and ecosystem services quantification and sales can increase client ROI.

Option for $750k investment to secure environmental monitoring rights to Gen-4 probe, which cuts labor and lab costs.
NSS offers the most accurate and cost-effective soil monitoring and modeling tool for quantification of ecosystem services provision (Eg., soil carbon, water infiltration, water holding capacity, natural hazard mitigation.)
• Purpose: Quantification of ES provision, enabling Payment for Ecosystem Services Markets. Conclusive scientific validation and market-creation for benefits of rapid topsoil formation and reversal of desertification.
NSS Competitive AdvantageNSS combines land restoration know-how and disruptive monitoring and decision-support technologies to offer
an unprecedented service range to a massive market. Our monitoring and decision-support tools flip
potential competitors into a target market. Our early arrival and combination of scientific validation and
demonstrative large-scale projects are designed to put NSS on the leading foot in performance-based
payment for ecosystem services markets.
• Land Restoration Management: A number of successful Mitigation Banking Firms including Wildlands, Inc.
and Applied Ecological Services use livestock grazing to “manage vegetation.” NSS employs unmatched
experience and innovative technology in managing livestock megaherds to rapidly reverse desertification and
build topsoil. Our expertise also covers over 40 additional agricultural and management tools that accelerate
land restoration. Many of the ranch-based consultants who offer parallel coaching services will be employed
by NSS as on-site managers.
• Monitoring: The NSS relationship with Soil and Topography Information, LLC (STI) gives us access to the most
advanced soil monitoring and ecosystem services quantification system in the world. With over one hundred
man-years of R&D, commercial deployment and numerous patents and trade secrets, STI has an estimated 3-5
year lead on competing soil monitoring companies. Our early adaptation of STI tools to environmental
monitoring gives us the opportunity to secure exclusive licenses across sectors and countries. While most
other PES firms rely on modeled “best management practices” to calculate payment for environmental
services, NSS and STI have a working system to precisely quantify the complete range of ecosystem services.
• New Soil Matrix decision support: The NSM is a disruptive technology, with no current parallel. The belief
that topsoil can only be created slowly and that desertification is largely irreversible has precluded the
development of topsoil formation decision-support options for land and municipal managers, carbon and
water traders and policymakers. By integrating best-of-breed component technologies and rushing software
and online networking to market, NSS plans to achieve social lock-in among agricultural producers and cities
needing innovative ways to meet pressing water and risk mitigation needs.

Investment and Return
A phased $10 million investment will enable rapid development of the complete NSS services offering and early client acquisition.
Revenue from monitoring, land and software enterprises is projected to provide 20% annual ROI over the first 5 years to investors.
Exit strategies are dependent on investor interests. Company buy-out of investor stake or ongoing equity partners are favored.
