Whiteboard is a visual planning tool
for pages, articles and ads. It’s also a
page production tool. All your pages
become available at the same time,
like in a super-customized Indesign
with a complete overview. Plan your
pages using layout modules. Assign
the planned modules to your
reporters and let them deliver a
complete write-to-fit article.
Whiteboard is seamlessly integrated
to InDesign CS/CC, both desktop and
server.
Whiteboard + InDesign Server = super efficient print!
Infomaker Newspilot
Build up a module-based set of article templates that
works together, like Lego. This enables a
productivity increase of up to 400%. Using
Whiteboard for both page, article and ad planning
really makes things easier, faster and less complex.
Use pre-built module templates, add extra content
such as fact boxes or images. Make small
adjustments, if necessary. Crop images to fit your
template in Whiteboard or in the Classic Writer.
Draw and automatically generate lines, move articles
between pages, re-plan articles, change article
templates. Drag and drop simplicity.
When your plan and journalists are ready, create the
page with our InDesign Server integration, send
directly to print or do finishing touches in desktop
InDesign if necessary.
The end result: a professional looking newspaper in
less time than before.

The built in and customizable transformations makes
it possible to automatically clean up your digital
content from links, embeds etc – anything you don’t
need in the printed paper.
In other words, this is a really tight integration that
makes it possible for you to decide what approach
you take.
In extension, this makes it possible for you to go all in
on the Infomaker Digital Presentation solutions,
such as our App Platform and Everyware solution.
Everything will work seamlessly.

A popular alternative to having fully
separated, or a single CMS for print
and digital, is working with our digital
creation tools integrated to
Newspilot. This really enables the
best of two worlds.
Your users can work in state-of-the-art digital tools,
either inside Newspilot or in a browser.
When working with Dashboard and Digital Writer in
Chrome, all content you create is automatically
available in Newspilot. If you decide to work from
Newspilot the digital articles you create are in the
same way automatically available in the Dashboard.

Manual editing of reused
content for print
To really let your journalists
focus on digital content
they need to let go of print.
This can be accomplished
by switching from
Newspilot to Dashboard
and Digital Writer. The
same digital content is
made available for print
production. Some of our
customers handles this
process with a separate
group of people dedicated
to making the printed
edition.
How to do print in a ‘digital first world’
A few years back, we saw the need for efficient print and we introduced our
Whiteboard solution. Now the question is “How can we make efficient print in a
‘digital first world’?”. Here are some examples:
Infomaker Newspilot
5
Plan for print while having a digital
first focus
Planning for both digital and print
has been the way for some of our
customers, planning is done in
Newspilot and in some cases the
Digital Writer is the writing tool.
This way the content of the printed
edition is clear early on. Some plan
the printed version in Whiteboard,
some do it manually.
Let the reporter do both
digital and print versions
The journalist starts with
writing content for your digital
channels, and when the story is
ready for print the same person
creates a copy. By opening up
the print copy you are allowed
to make print specific changes
(write-to-fit, image soft crop
etc).
Conclusion: We believe you must decide whether to be channel agnostic
or not, we believe in content not channels. The actual process is then up to
your organization needs, skills and resources. We want to make all these
ways possible in an easy way.
In a world of endless channels and
possibilities and where print
efficiency is top priority, you can’t
afford to spend too much time on
your e-edition. ePaper production
and quality needs to stay on par with
your demands on print. This is where
our ePaper solution comes in.
Packed with great features that work out of the box
with Newspilot:
● Clickable ads for extra revenue possibilities
● Clickable editorial content with article view
● Automated publishing process
● Same support for the entire publishing flow

When core functionality of Newspilot
isn’t enough it’s time to open the
integration toolbox.
Newspilot comes with a REST API for integrating
other solutions with REST possibilities. On top of
that there are also file based integrations that are
used for specific needs.
With lots of experience integrating 3rd party
solutions we have made standard integrations for
several systems, sources and formats.
REST API
There is a well documented REST API available for
integration of various solutions, for example
integrating other content repositories.

Ad system integration
We have out-of-the-box integrations to several ad
systems on the market, from vendors such as
Newscycle, Atex, Lineup and Tieto to name a few.
For ad integrations to “any” ad system we have two
possibilities, our AD REST API, a well documented
and proven way to get your ads presented in
Newspilot. There is also a Newspilot Ad Exchange
XML-format for importing and updating ads.
Web views and javascript
A fairly new option is to show a 3rd party solution as
a webview inside the Newspilot client, and when
necessary integrate using javascript and the API.
This way you can extend functionality outside the
Newspilot core.
Some good-to-know info!
What does it cost?
We offer Newspilot either as a classic up-front
license or for a monthly subscription fee. Monthly
costs covers support and availability to updates. The
cost of the license fee depends of choice of functions
and number of users.
I want Newspilot. How do I get it?
A Newspilot project varies a lot depending on your
needs, integrations, the size of your organisation and
the amount of publications that will be handled. The
most common projects last around 2–10 months in
calendar time.
Do I need to install any extra backend servers?
Yes, at the moment Newspilot is always hosted by
our customers, themselves our by using third party
hosting providers. A standard production setup
requires as a minimum one backend server and 2–3
Windows servers as a general rule, depending on
size and needs.
Do I have to choose all solutions from Infomaker?
Of course not! There are clear benefits – and many
of our customers have done so but it is possible to
pick the cherries from the cake, it’s really up to you!
We need integrations to systems we use daily. How can that be done? There is a REST API available that you can use to integrate various services. We also have an expanding set of pre-built integrations with many 3rd parties, feel free to ask us about the currently supported integrations!
How are upgrades of the platform managed?
The platform continuously evolves with new
functions, support for new Java and OS versions,
enhances and bug fixes. You’ll be informed about
new versions and upcoming functionality in our tech
newsletter. Upgrades are managed as a separate
project, often in the range of a days in total
depending on how often you upgrade.
