This term’s topic is ‘Explorers’ with a Geography focus. Our ‘Road trip’ geography project will teach the children about places and geographical features as we travel from London across Europe. We will study different countries and cites as part of a ‘Road trip’ experience. ExplorersWe have a broad and balanced curriculum that has cross curricular links to all subjects. Each term we have a topic theme. This term’s topic is ‘Explorers’ with a Geography focus. Our ‘Road trip’ geography project will teach the children about places and geographical features as we travel from London across Europe. We will study different countries and cites as part of a ‘Road trip’ experience. As part of our Well-being and learning-for- life curriculum, we teach thinking, communication and problem -solving skills. Children have 2 hours of PE each week and regular sessions in the garden.

English

We are reading: ‘Ice Palace’ by Robert Swindells. After half term we will study ‘Into the forest’ by Anthony Browne. We will be learning to:

give clear descriptions and explanations when writing for different purposes.

participate in class discussions and debates and develop public speaking skills to allow others to understand their ideas and opinions.

Reinforce phonics knowledge and focus on words which are often spelt incorrectly.

Learn how to spell Year 3 common exception words.

present their writing neatly with joined handwriting and clear layout.

use punctuation correctly at the end of each sentence.

use new vocabulary in their speech and writing.

write a story that has an exciting middle section.

plan their writing based on the structure and vocabulary used in the books we are focusing on.

Our final product will be our own story in the 1st person based on the book ‘Ice Palace’.

Maths
