“Just across the courtyard we have Joseph’s Lodge,” continues Philip, “which is a self contained, one bedroom annex above the double garage. The garages used

to be stabling and a carriage house, and Joseph

was the carriage man who lived above, hence

the name. It was in a completely dilapidated

state when we came here, but we’ve renovated

throughout and it’s now an absolutely beautiful

space, and very useful.”

“As well as the courtyard, which is handy for

parking, we also have a lovely garden,” says

Philip. “It’s raised and so we can see right over

the town. The previous owner was a keen

gardener, so it was nicely established, and it’s a

real suntrap so a very nice place to sit out during

the summer.”
