Navigating at night to Sligo Airport usually addressing the emergencies and differences of night flying on the way. After a short stop in Sligo, departing to Waterford Airport. After completing some circuits in Waterford, departing for Shannon on another navigation exercise. Further circuit work (dual and solo) is completed at Shannon before parking up and staying in a local hotel for the night. A daytime VFR flight is then made early the next morning back to Weston Airport. There is no examination required to achieve a nigh rating. The aim of the Night Flying Course is to provide the pilot with the skills and understanding necessary to safely fly an aircraft at night. NFC pre-requisite is that students that wish to undertake the night rating must hold a PPL and must have at least 70 hours of total time. As the night rating is completed in the Cessna 172 it is a requirement that students have at least 5 hours experience in the Cessna 172.
