Room 1 - Lisa Miller Welcome back everyone. From the stories we have been hearing in Kindy it sounds like a fantastic break was had by one and all! Today the children had a wonderful time over at the tuckshop. Thanks to all the parents for your help and support. It was a great success! This term we are learning all about the Sea. We will be exploring life under the sea and the children have already been busy sorting shells, coral and rocks, colouring and cutting out fish and even dissecting a real fish to investigate the parts. We are weaving some bright material to create wonderful fish for the Fremantle festival and improving our fine motor skills at the same time.

Room 2 - Liz Smith The children have welcomed Miss Bernie and this terms’ topic ‘Our Watery World’ with their customary enthusiasm. Miss Bernie is on her final school placement and will be with us until the end of week six. Reminders: Our school is a SunSmart school with the rule ‘no hat, no play’ enforced during Terms 1 and 4. Please also remember a water bottle every day and as it heats up to apply sunscreen liberally before school. I do have a bottle of sunblock for mid-way additional application. Library for our class is on a Wednesday. On a personal note. Thank you to the entire school community for your support during this most difficult of personal times.

Miss Bernie in a measuring height activity for a class display. Ella’s hermit crab, we made them from ‘nude’ playdough and real crab shells.

Room 3 - Bev Lane We have had a very busy week, learning about graphs, money and how to solve problems in maths and how tricky the letter K can be, sitting silently at the front of words just to trick us. We have made fabulous fish in art and learnt how to hold a ball correctly in cricket. We LOVED tuckshop which was made even better by all the delicious food the parents in class brought. Thank you.

Room 4 - Claire Henneberry Welcome back to term four! We have got lots of things planned this term. So far we have started cricket training on a Wednesday afternoon which has been lots of fun! This will continue for the next 2-3 weeks. In Society and environment we have been learning about our own beliefs and values and beginning to look at the beliefs and values of different cultures. On Wednesday Jimmy bought his didgeridoo in to play for us – he was amazing!

Room 5 - Monica Parkes/Leanne Vinci We have had a great start back to school and have been working hard in all our learning areas. Our picture books that we started last term are well under way with most of the class now working their published copy. It is good to see the students applying what they have learned about camera angle to their illustrations and also how they have taken their audience into account when writing and editing their stories! Room 5 have created some amazing models showing features of sustainable houses. We are very proud of our efforts and hope one day can put our ideas into practise.

Chaplain’s Corner

A NEW SUPPORT CHAPLAIN IN OUR SCHOOL

Terri Emslie has been appointed as North Fremantle Primary School’s new Support Chaplain from this term onwards. Terri also works as the In-School Chaplain at Harmony Primary School in Atwell for 2 days a week. Terri initially worked as a Secondary School teacher for nine years, before moving into School and Educational Administration for twelve years. Her journey as a YouthCARE Chaplain began three years ago. Funded by the State Government, in partnership with YouthCARE and the W.A. Department of Education, a YouthCARE Support Chaplain is linked to a cluster of schools within a specific district– none of which currently have their own . The Support Chaplain is able to assist with the Pastoral Care already being offered on a regular basis within the School Community and can also provide additional support, consultation and appropriate referral to other agencies for the more serious or urgent pastoral needs of the staff, students and families. Access to the Support Chaplaincy Service will be mediated through our School Administration Team. We welcome Terri to North Fremantle Primary.
