MEANINGThere is a tradition of social service and voluntary work in India. There are many organisation which are engaged in social welfare activities , like helping poor, spreading literacy and so on. These organisation are called as NGO’s (NON GOVERNMENT ORGANISATION).

PURPOSE OF NGO’s

The object and purpose of NGO’s are different from business organisations. These organisations do not intend to earn profits. The purpose of NGO’s are is to serve a particular section of society, public at large or its members only.

CHARACTERSTICS OF NGO’s

• REGISTERED BODIES:- NGO’S are generally registered bodies under the Society Registration Act, Public Trust Act and Companies Act.• PROGRAMMES :- NGO’s stressed on programmes of education , medicine , and social reforms in their action plans.• SERVICES :- The services provided by members were honorary and free of cost to the beneficiaries.• MAIN PURPOSE :- The main purpose is socio-economic development of the specified target group.• FUNDS :- The funds are raised from public , reasonable fee may be charged from beneficiaries and grants are received from government and aid is received from international bodies .

• AREAS OF OPERATION :- The area of operation of NGO’s are- i) . Education

ii). Healthcare iii). Involves in rehabilitation activities in case of natural calamities.

iv). Supports the development of infrastructure.• NON- PROFIT ORGANISATION :- NGO’s are non- profitable organisation The intention of this organisation is not to earn profit.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESESS OF NGO’s

STRENGTHS

•NGO’s are run by dedicated personnel/ volunteers who are committed and knowledgeable about the health issue they are advocating.

•They have good networking with health professionals, the community and the private sector.

•They are not constrained by government policies and regulations. They are more flexible and independent.

•They are acceptable to the community because they are usually members of the community.

WEAKNESS

•They lack personnel who can work full-time. They are dependent on volunteers who usually have a full time job and other commitments.

•They often lack funds and materials resources.

•Their way of doing things may not fit well with government regulations and procedures (clash of culture).

PROBLEMS OF NGO’s

• FUNDS :- NGO’s do not have regular funds.

• GOVERNMENT GRANTS :- Government grants to NGO’s are sometimes stopped in mid-way and this adversely affects the continuing projects

• EMPLOYEES:- The professional scope of employees in NGO’s are limited.

• MOTIVATION OF EMPLOYEES :- The level of motivation of most of the employees is low so they just continue with the job for the sake of employment.

• POLITICAL PROBLEM :- There is a lot of political interference in the working of NGO’s

CINI ASHA – AN ORGANISATION CINI Asha is the urban unit of Child In Need Institute (CINI). CINI is a non-governmental organization founded in 1974 by Dr. S. N. Chaudhuri . CINI mainly focuses on improving children's health in the rural areas of West Bengal. CINI Asha was established in 1989 with a mission "To improve the quality of life of the socially disadvantaged children living in the urban areas through education, health and social mobilisation." CINI Asha works to bring children abandoned on the streets, slum dwellers, children of sex workers and child labourers into school and to provide jobs for these children after graduating from school.

A. CLASSIFICATION ON THE BASIS OF DUTIES OF TRUTEES.

SIMPLE TRUST:- A simple trust is one where the trustee is mere depository of the trust property with no active duties to be performed.

SPECIAL TRUST:- A special trust is one where the trustee has to exercise his discretion in carrying out the trust.

B. CLASSIFICATION ACCORDING TO PURPOSE.

PUBLIC TRUST:- A public trust carry out for the benefit of society. For example- advancement of education irrespective of caste or creed.

PRIVATE TRUST:- A private trust carry out the benefit of one person or of certain definite persons.

For example- a trust for the benefit of x and his children.

C. CLASSIFICATION AS PER MODE OF CREATION.

EXPRESS TRUST:- It is a trust created by the settler by words or by deed. For example- ‘A’ convey property to ‘B’ with the direction to hold it for the benefit of ’C’ for life and thereafter for C’s children.

EXECUTED TRUST:- A trust is executed when no further instrument is necessary and the trust is finally declared in the first instance i.e money is vested in trustees on trust for A for life and after his death for B.

IMPLIED TRUST:- An implied trust is a trust arising from the presumed intention of the parties.

EXECUTORY TRUST:- A trust is executory when a further instrument is necessary to carry into effect the general intention expressed in the first instrument.
