To: Roads Scholars Road Agents Public Works Directors City Mayors Town Managers Town Administrators Other Municipal Offi cials

Over 4,400 people have attended at least one UNH Technology Transfer (T2) Center workshop. The Roads Scholars recognized in this directory have demonstrated a commitment to self-improvement and personal development.

These Roads Scholars can more effectively build, maintain, and repair roads, highways, sidewalks, bridges, and other vital infrastructure because of their added knowledge, skills, and capabilities. I hope the cities, towns, departments, and communities they serve will also recognize their achievement.

This directory also recognizes individuals who have instructed UNH T2 Center workshops during 2010. The high quality of Roads Scholar workshops is due in large part to the skills, dedication, and professionalism of these individuals.

It is a great pleasure to recognize individuals in the UNH Technology Transfer Center New Hampshire Roads Scholar Directory of 2011.

Sincerely,

Kathryn A. Myers,Training Program ManagerNH LTAP at UNH

UNH T2 Roads Scholar Program The UNH Technology Transfer Center Roads Scholar Program recognizes training and education across four levels of achievement and includes coverage of subjects essential to effective local road management.

There is a minimum number of contact hours for each level and subject coverage is established for Roads Scholar II. Contact hours measure the time of instructor-to-learner interaction. A typical UNH T² Center one-day workshop is fi ve hours of instruction and equal to fi ve contact hours. By incorporating subject areas, as opposed to specifi c courses, the UNH T2 Center can respond to recommendations for training by developing workshops for new technologies and current trends.

All requirements must be met to advance in the program. The table below lists the contact hours needed for each level and the subject areas needed to reach Roads Scholar II.

Bridge Maintenance Workshop Instructor, Dave Powelson, NHDOT, November 2010

The University of New Hampshire Technology Transfer Center has been designated one of the Local Technical Assistance Pro-grams (LTAP) established in all fi fty states and Puerto Rico by the U.S. Congress.

NH LTAP (UNH T2 Center) serves primarily the Public Works Directors, Road Agents, and municipal offi cials concerned with lo-cal roads, along with others in public and private road-related or-ganizations.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) fund the UNH T2

Center.

An Advisory Board approves program policies and objectives. Thank you to our Advisory Board members: Glen Davison-Civ-il Engineer, NHDOT Planning & Community; Nancy Mayville-Municipal Highways Engineer, NHDOT Planning & Community; Christopher Tilley-Area Engineer, FHWA; Alex Cote-Highway Agent, Town of Deerfi eld; Martha Drukker-Associate Engineer, City of Concord; Richard Lee-Director of Public Works, Town of New London; and Dave Danielson–President, Forecee Advocacy.

For quality assurance, the UNH T2 Center has adopted the criteria of the International Association for Continuing Education. This association, in addition to setting standards for high quality training, also governs the issuance of continuing education units (CEUs). By fulfi lling their standards, UNH T2 Center workshops and seminars qualify for issuance of CEU’S, which the UNH Di-vision of Continuing Education will issue for free to any UNH T2

Center workshop attendee.
