face time with an attuned adult.

What you offer to others you experience within yourself.
All development occurs within the context of a relationship
Optimal environment for infants and toddlers =
the adults optimal internal state.
(You are the child's most important toy!)

explore the environment

Attunement
The ability to be present
Read non-verbal communication
Add meaning to that communication
for a child
It’s is the ability to pick up
on the child’s signals, make sense of
them for the child and yourself, and
then respond in a timely and effective
manner.
You cannot teach what
you don’t have.

The Road to Attachment
thru Attunement
Respond consistently to their distress
Organize yourself first the child second.
Attune to the child’s internal state by
offering empathy and understanding.
Describe by “mind reading” intentions
and desires
Attuned communication = DNA
Describe what you see
“Your Face is like this”
Name the Feeling
“You seem scared.”
Acknowledge what they are
wanting
“You weren’t expecting that loud noise
