What we are doing to write the plan
Health care for people with a learning disability, autism or both will be an important part of the plan
This is an exciting opportunity!
We have to finish the planning by the Autumn of 2018
We are working with people and families, staff and partners to get our part of the plan right
We are having lots of meetings about it up to the end of September

and autism:

Dr Jean O’Hara
Jean is the national clinical director for learning disability at NHS
England. She is also a consultant psychiatrist at South London and
the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
Rob Webster

NHS Foundation Trust.

Some things to think about:
What do we want the NHS to be like?
How will people act?
What will be in place?
What is important for the NHS in 10
years time for autistic people or people
with learning disabilities?
www.england.nhs.uk
For example:
• Autism strategy or plan
• Transforming Care
• LeDeR – learning how to
stop people from dying
earlier than others
• Annual health checks

Next steps
• Thank you for all your ideas
• All the feedback will help with the draft plan
• We have to say how much it will all cost
• The NHS and the government will say if the
plan is OK. They make the final decision.
• We will get a fixed amount of money
• This might affect how much we can do,
but we will do as much as we can
• The plan will start in 2019
