Anti-Bullying Week 2021 is taking place from Monday 15 th ndash Friday 19 th November This yearrsquos theme is lsquoOne Kind lsquoWordrsquo has been developed across all four nations of UK and included the support of children and young people in the designing and messaging

In Northern Ireland it is coordinated by the Northern Ireland Anti-Bullying Forum which is based at leading childrenrsquos charity the National Childrenrsquos Bureau

We have worked with Stranmillis University College students to develop a range of resources to help you bring Anti-Bullying Week to life in school

The resources are designed to help schools to celebrate and take part Anti-Bullying Week There are resources available for each key stage group The resources are designed as a template and can be adapted to suit each classgroup They could be delivered online in smaller groups in class or as whole assembly groups The resources reflect this yearrsquos theme of kindness with the aim to encourage children and young people to consider kindness as a tool to tackle bullying both face to face and online We encourage everyone to consider how they can be kind to others and to themselves The pack contains assembly plans lesson plans and cross curricular activity ideas that are designed to support this

In a world that can sometimes feel like itrsquos filled with negativity one kind word can provide a moment of hope It can be a turning point It can change someonersquos perspective It can change their day It can change the course of a conversation and break the cycle of bullying

Best of all one kind word leads to another Kindness fuels kindness So from the playground to Parliament and from our phones to our homes together our actions can fire a chain reaction that powers positivity

Delivering these materials to students will involve careful planning Remember that some of your students may have experienced bullying or be experiencing bullying as they take part in Anti-Bullying Week They may even be experiencing bullying by other children in their class

Make sure you show students

bull How to report bullyingbull That they can talk to you about bullying if they are worried about itbull You are here to listen bull Your anti-bullying policy

Look out for the students who you know are being bullied or for changes in behaviour of students whilst delivering

Remember that if reported incidents of bullying increase during Anti-Bullying Week that it may show that your work is making students feel more able to come forward

After a hugely successful Odds Socks Day in NI last year we are delighted to be working with Andy Day cBeebies star and frontman of Andy and the Odd Socks again this year Odd Socks Day is a chance for everyone to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week in a positive way by wearing odd socks for the day There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or buy expensive costumes All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks it could not be simpler

Odd Socks Day will take place on the first day of Anti Bullying Week Monday 15th November to help raise awareness for Anti-Bullying Week

Share your story This Anti-Bullying Week we want to share your real-life stories of the moment that one kind choice one kind action one kind word changed your life for the better in relation to bullying

It can be an example of kindness shown to you - or a time you saw kindness make a difference to someone experiencing or perpetrating bullying behaviour We hope these stories will help inspire a chain reaction this Anti-Bullying Week

You can type your story or wersquod really love to be able to share a video of you sharing your story - no longer than 1 minute in length You can submit your story here Please also note that we are only accepting submissions from people aged 16+

NIABF was formed by Save the Children at the request of the Department of Education in August 2004 and formally launched in November 2005 NIABF is currently managed by the National Childrenrsquos Bureau (NCB)

After a hugely successful Odds Socks Day in NI last year we are delighted to be working with Andy Day cBeebies star and frontman of Andy and the Odd Socks again this year Odd Socks Day is a chance for everyone to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week in a positive way by wearing odd socks for the day There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or buy expensive costumes All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks it could not be simpler

Odd Socks Day will take place on the first day of Anti Bullying Week Monday 15th November to help raise awareness for Anti-Bullying Week
