• Conducted botany research - PCR, electrophoresis, DNA extractions – for Dr. Steven, CNU - Research grant ($1500) and CNU Honors stipend ($1000)
• Performed statistical analysis and served as lead researcher on Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) during internship with Dr. Oral Alpan, Immunologist (O&OAlpan/Amerimmune). Abstract accepted for poster at European Federation of Autonomic Societies Conference, Malaga, Spain, 2014. Also, presented to group professionals on Congenital Sucrase-Isomaltase Disorder (CSID)
• Shadowed VCA University Veterinary Clinic doctors – assisted in office and observed foreign body removal and spay surgeries. Learned about medical procedures and diagnostic methods in veterinary medicine.
• Served as Jamboree staff member - Aviation merit badge counselor for many of
40,000 scouts attending from across the U.S. - National Boy Scout Jamboree. Gained experience in teaching.
• Volunteered as VCA University Veterinary Clinic intern

Community Service
• Volunteered at Riverside Hospital (2012-Present): Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) – Front Desk Assistant; Elderly Care Volunteer; Greeter (120 hours)
• Served as Founding Member of INOVA Fairfax Hospital’s Youth Advisory Board (YAB) - served on 1st YAB – made recommendations to senior staff on adolescent and pediatric care improvement - many suggestions were implemented. Senior Board member (3 yrs)
• Held several Scouting leadership positions - Currently serving as Assistant (Collegiate) Scoutmaster. As a scout held numerous positions including Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
• Led Eagle Scout Project (project management and implementation) - directed ten scouts and two adults in redesign and construction of 4’x4’ handicap accessible flower boxes for mentally/physically challenged residents of Northern Virginia Training Center could enjoy flowers/gardening with their wheelchairs fitting under raised flowerbeds. Total of 150 community service hours
