Point Engineering Limited (POINT) is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Nigerian engineering company dedicated to providing responsive high quality and cost-effective services to clients, who are mainly in the oil and gas production, oil refining, gas processing, power and infrastructure industries. Point Engineering was established in 1995, started business in 1997 and active operations in January 2000 with a dedicated team of mechanical, process, civil/structural, instrumentation and electrical engineers. Since then, the company has evolved into a full multi-disciplinary consultancy and EPCM group working on contracts varying in size from individual assignments to over 100,000 man-hours. Our philosophy is to provide innovative, cost effective solutions, on time, within budget and develop a relationship with our clients for mutual respect, whereby our professional approach places us first on the list when considering new tasks or technologies. Projects executed include study, analysis, engineering (front-end and detailed), construction and procurement, and project management services.
We have worked and can still work under a number of contractual arrangements including Reimbursable, Target Price, Lump Sum, Service and Frame Contracts depending on the nature of the project assignment and clients’ preference. Our approach is always flexible and whilst we prefer to be contracted directly with the main client, in order to achieve the clients’ goal, we do engage in sub-contract and/or consortium arrangements in order to draw synergy together in meeting clients’ requirements. Project: Post-Inspection Engineering Evaluation for 79 Platforms Project Client: ExxonMobil, Lagos Project Man-hours: 8,000 Client Contact: Isang Ukpong ([email protected])
Description: The scope requires CONTRACTOR to collate and assimilate the 2008 platforms inspection data and assess their overall structural integrity and fitness-for-service. Then screen, interrogate and trend the results against past inspection results, but not limited to, the 1986, 1991, 1996 MPN platforms inspections. CONTRACTOR shall perform all necessary assessment to determine structural integrity of platforms inspected. CONTRACTOR shall document all anomalies for corrective action, backed by sound engineering. Seventy-nine (79) platforms were inspected during the 2008 underwater inspection program. As part of the Structural Integrity Management (SIM) process the results of these inspections were subsequently evaluated by POINT and its partner on the project, W.S. Atkins, and the findings summarise into a report. POINT completed this work in November 2010.

Project: Central Processing Facilities (CPF) Engineering Design, Procurement, Installation &Commissioning at Umusadege Client: Midwestern Oil & Gas, Lagos Project Man-hours: 15,000 Client Contact: Peter Idowu ([email protected])
Description: POINT’S Scope of Work: Carry out Conceptual Engineering Design, Detailed Engineering Design and Procurement assistance for the proposed CPF. The design is being performed in 4 Phases as follows: Phase - 1: To perform Conceptual and Basic Engineering Design based on the Field DST and PVT Reports. Phase – 2: To perform Detailed Engineering Design for the interconnection of the engineered packages and systems. Phase – 3: To assist Midwestern to float tenders technical evaluation of the bids received and in placement of orders for the equipments. Phase 4: To ensure quality control & quality assurance and supervise installation & commissioning carried out by a 3rd Party. POINT completed this work in March 2008.

Project: Define Phase Engineering for Bonga SW/Aparo Gas Export Pipeline Client: SNEPCO, Lagos Project Man-hours: 8,500 Client Contact: John Andersen ([email protected])
Description: Shell Nigeria Exploration & Production Company Limited (SNEPCO) intends to embark on the engineering of the Gas Export Pipeline from the Steel Catenary Riser (SCR)/pipeline on the seabed close to the FPSO, to the shallow water tie-in platform. The 16-inch export pipeline which is approximately 100 km long, will transport processed gas from the FPSO to the Offshore Gas Gathering System (OGGS) Riser platform A (RP-A) in about 20 meters of water depth. The gas export pipeline was designed with pigging facilities for cleaning and inspection. POINT Scope of work includes: Pipeline to Platform riser tie-in spool Platform riser, riser clamps and riser guard Platform piping to OGGS tie-in manifold, including overpressure protection and
pig receiver.

FLOWSTATION Description: SPDC-E own and operate an existing Flowstation at Afam located about 40km East of Port Harcourt, Nigeria (OML11). The Flowstation was seriously vandalised in 1999 to the extent that a complete refurbishment of various facilities such as export pumps, generators, instrumentation items, and electrical system etc. is required to bring the Flowstation back on stream. In addition it is also required to debottleneck the Flowstation to enable the processing of 30,000bopd and at the same time meet the environmental upgrade requirements. The Process Automation System (PAS) is required to be upgraded to a novel OPEN SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE Technology. Point Engineering performed the conceptual design and full detailed engineering design for the rehabilitation / upgrade works. POINT completed this work in November 2002
GAS PLANT Description: SPDC-E own and operate an existing Gas Plant at Afam located about 40km East of Port Harcourt, Nigeria (OML11). The Gas Plant was seriously vandalised in 1999 to the extent that a complete refurbishment of various facilities such as export pumps, generators, instrumentation items, and electrical system etc. is required to bring the Gas Plant back on stream. In addition it is also required to debottleneck the Gas Plant to enable the processing of 75MMscfd and at the same time meet the environmental upgrade requirements. The Process Automation System (PAS) is required to be upgraded to a novel OPEN SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE Technology. Point Engineering performed the conceptual design and full detailed engineering design for the rehabilitation/upgrade works. POINT completed this work in November 2002

Project: Cawthorne Channel Associated Gas Gathering Pipeline Project (CCAGG) Client: Daewoo / SHELL, Port Harcourt Project Man-hours: 26,000 Client Contact: Joon Ryoo ([email protected])
Description: SPDC embarked on various gas utilization projects as part of its efforts to eliminate continuous gas flaring in its oil production operations, and CCAGG was one of such projects. The EPC phase of the project was split into pipeline & facility scopes and awarded to Daewoo Nigeria Limited who subcontracted the detailed engineering works to Point Engineering Limited. There were eleven pipelines involved for transportation of gas to and from locations within the AGG node and third party facilities (e.g. NLNG, ASCON). Point Engineering’s scope includes detailed engineering, Sub-Contracting Engineering Survey of the pipeline R.O.W in Swamps & river / creek terrain with supervision and management of the surveyors, soil investigation and resistivity survey, etc. Conceptual Design verification, Pipeline relief, vent and blowdown designs were done on the eleven pipelines. Corrosion and Cathodic Protection designs were also carried out. POINT completed this work in November 2001
