8th Howard Lyons$158 pmNominated for Best Folk Recording Artist for the NativeAmerican Music Awards, singer, songwriter and musicianHoward Lyons has been creating music that blends thetraditional sounds and values of his native Mohawkculture with contemporary folk sensibilities. His richvoice, lively guitar style and thought-provoking, spirit-moving ballads have put him on stage in many concerthalls and Pow Wow events throughout the United Statesand Canada. Moving flawlessly between the English andMohawk languages, Howard sings the traditional songsof his people in his own compositions, which he callsNative Folk. His original music has an eclectic flavor thatreflects the stories of traditional American Indian life.

Yes,it’s bluegrass, mostly, but there’s a lilt to thetunes, a bouncing drive to the melodies, thetrace of an accent in Kevin’s vocals, and hereand there a touch of melancholy that seems togo hand in hand with the Irish persona.”

David Jacobs-Strain$158 pm
“I just saw him at a festival and can testify, he wasbrilliant solo and shined alongside more seasonedplayers. His covers are fresh, masterful andauthoritative. And his original tunes are knock-outs, combining the emotional truth of hisplaying with that uncanny, knowing voice andwith subject matter deep beyond expectation…blues that send shivers along your spine.” – Millpond Music Festival, 2001

tunesmith of the highest order.”We know that he writes withuncommon grace, real beauty, and open eyes. It’s been manyyears since he’s performed here, and we are honored by hisreturn.
Meg Hutchinson - PerformingSongwriter calls Hutchinson, “...Amaster of introspective ballads filledwith understated yearning and anexquisite sense of metaphor.” Thetwenty-six year old describes herstyle as “lyric-based, folk-pop, witha whole lot of small town idealismand one devastating break upthrown in for good measure.”

Alastair Moock - Moock’s award-winning songs have been comparedto those of John Prine; hiswhiskeyed voice to those of SteveForbert and Tom Waits. Hisrecorded material ranges fromdeeply-grooved blues and twang tolush folk-rock and raw acousticroots.
7th Leni Stern$158 pm Leni Stern is perpetual motion. When shes notwearing one of her many professional hats (singer, guitarist, label owner, author, composer, orchestrator), she is wearing one or more of theother many hats that make her who she is: Anunassuming and humble role model she certainlyis, given her stellar 17-year, 12-album recordingcareer. Gibson has chosen her as the FemaleGuitarist of the Year five consecutive times
Ned Massey has been described innational press as an “evocative singer-songwriter with vision” (FMQB) and as“a gutsy artist who isn’t afraid to add alittle edge to his acoustic based music”(Album Network). John Hammond, shortly before his death, said that NedMassey was the best artist he’d heardsince Dylan and Springsteen.
LisaBeth Weber with Maggie Marshall -Over the last couple of years, LisaBethwas visited by some kind of muse that hascaused her to re-route her writing to amore traditional style. She’s real excitedabout this, and the new CD also reflects atime when things were created in asimpler manner. Along with the beautifulharmonies of MAGGIE MARSHALL
