The Challenger Gen 2+ Series are available with either Russian Gen 2+ or Russian Gen 2+ B Grade tubes. The Challenger G2+ 1x21 is also available with Photonis Gen 2+ image intensifier tubes which are assembled in the UK (SRPs ranging from £3,419.95 to £7,149.95). The Gen 2+ image intensifier tubes offer higher resolution and sensitivity resulting in better performance in low light conditions than the Challenger GS Series. The physical features of the scopes are identical to the Challenger GS series and all scopes come with a soft carry case.

At the core of the Challenger GS series are specially designed optics and a Gen Super/CF-Super image intensifier tube which provides edge-to-edge resolution, offering unparalleled budget night vision performance.

The Recon X870 tops the Recon range offering the highest sensitivity and consequently the furthest viewing ranges. The use of SumLight™ substantially increases sensitivity of the CCD array thus enabling observation in low light without using the IR illuminator.

The Edge GS features an image intensifier tube protection system – once the luminance

threshold level is exceeded, current feed to the tube is automatically reduced or fully

ceased. This allows for the highest possible tube performance.

better resolution than CF Super/Gen-Super - but are a lower grade than a standard Gen 2+

The power of the IR output can be smoothly adjusted.

This IR Laser Flashlight is certified as Class 1 Eyesafe. Fitted with a Weaver mount and supplied with a Weaver - 1/4” Whitworth Screw Adaptor, it can be fitted to the tripod socket/Weaver rail of NV units.

Although the bodyshell has remained familiar the functionality has continued to grow with the newest model featuring a built-in laser rangefinder providing vital information for the shooter.

The Digisight LRF N870 is the most innovative addition to the Digisight Series yet. It has all the most useful features found on the N750A and adds to them with:• A built-in 400m laser rangefinder with True Horizontal Distance

(THD) and Angle of Elevation (AoE) functions which are accurate to ±1m

• A smooth 4.5-9x zoom in 0.1x increments• A built-in covert 915nm laser IR illuminator (no tell-tale red

glow - totally invisible to the human eye)

• Energy saving modes will automatically switch off the rifle after 10 seconds if it is at a 70o vertical angle or 30o horizontal angle and a second mode that will turn off the power to the video module if it is not required

• If the rifle is inclined at a horizontal angle of 5o or more a warning sign appears showing the direction and angle on incline

• Zero function with freeze frame - once your shot has been taken, freeze the frame and align the reticle with the point of impact - no need to keep the rifle held steady

Please note that screen alignment does not affect accuracy because the point of aim is determined by the reticle in the Day Scope only. Adjusting the alignment is simply to maximise the field of view and to position the menu’s and status icons visible on the display.

The Forward DFA75 has built in preset zeros at 15, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100, 150 and 300m but any distance can be input manually. The factory default is set at 100m. The distance setting on the DFA75 should ideally be set to the same range that the Day Scope is zeroed at and user can choose between Metres or Yards. Once the zero of the Forward DFA is matched to the Day Scope shots can be taken as normal.

The Forward DFA75’s optical channel sits 43mm above the Day Scope and is designed this way to reduce its length, making the controls easier to reach and also to reduce the stresses on the Day Scope under recoil. This has the effect of increasing the amount of hold over or under when shooting shorter or further than the zeroed distance. The amount of compensation is shown in the manual so it is easy to compensate for.In this diagram the Day Scope and Forward DFA75 are zeroed at 100m so if shooting at 50m it is necessary to aim 21.5mm higher.

Alternatively, it is possible to quickly change the distance setting in the menu of the Forward DFA75 to match the target range, then no additional compensation is needed above what the Day Scope would normally need.

The Forward DFA75 can also be setup in parallel to the Day Sight, in which cases all shots are offset by 43mm irrespective of the distance.

The Forward DFA75 will fit any scope that’s outer objective lens housing diameter is from 46.7mm to 50.6mm or 54.7mm to 65.6mm and has just 2.8mm clearance from the weapon.

Take the Cover Ring Adaptor (sold separately and available in GRP or Aluminium Alloy options), select the correct insert from those provided and securely mount the Cover Ring Adaptor to the Day Scope. Now mount the Forward DFA75 by placing the locating pins in to the bayonet mount, then push and turn until it locks in place. You can now align the image screen following the simple directions in the instruction manual. (See image below)

Range of detection

You can detect ‘something’ is

present, this is usually quantified as a man sized target. Range of recognition

You can recognise what it is you are looking at i.e. it’s a human or animal.

Range of identification

You can identify it’s a man/woman, fox, badger, rabbit etc.

Frame rate/refresh rate

The frame rate determines the smoothness of the moving image. A higher frame rate means a smoother image when panning or tracking a moving target. To help get an idea of what to compare this to the standard TV broadcast rate is 25Hz.

Unlike image intensified or digital night vision thermal imaging products require no light to effectively visualise their surroundings. All objects emit infrared energy as heat. By detecting very subtle temperature differences of everything in view, infrared (or thermal imaging) technology is able to reveal what would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. Even in challenging weather conditions or complete darkness, thermal imaging gives the user the ability to see the unseen. Thermal imaging was firstly developed for military use and has since been adopted by law enforcement, fire and rescue teams, security professionals and is now being used further in hunting, game keeping and land management. Thermal imagers cannot be damaged by bright light and therefore can be used in daylight to detect well camouflaged heat sources

ACCESSORIES


Designed to power Pulsar and Yukon digital devices and thermal imagers. The EPS3 has a capacity of 2.4Ah and is fitted with a mount for attachment to a Weaver rail plus a Weaver to ¼” screw thread adaptor for attachment to the tripod socket of hand-held devices. The higher capacity 5Ah EPS5 is supplied with a 1m cable as standard, which allows it to be stored in any suitable place, such as a pocket. The EPS3 gives up to 9 hours and the EPS5 up to 20 hours continuous operation. Both Battery Packs are supplied with a UK Mains Charger and a 12v Socket Adaptor that accepts 12v charging plug adaptors from devices such as sat-navs, mini TVs or mobile phones to provide them with a portable high capacity external power source.

Designed to be fixed to devices that are equipped with a ¼ inch tripod socket. The length can be adjusted making it comfortable to carry on both the shoulder and the neck.

Offers the same features as the 805 variant, only this model has covert IR capability in that the beam is invisible to the unaided eye. At 940nm the infrared light is only visible to digital night vision over any meaningful distance.

The military grade LED in combination with the lens provides uniform lighting. The unfocused beam illuminates larger areas; the narrow beam ensures the longest possible viewing distance.

Designed to work specifically with digital night vision and be invisible to the human eye. The laser will produce a more concentrated beam than the equivalently rated IR LED model. This IR Laser Flashlight is certified as Class 1 Eyesafe.

The Tracker 1x24 NVG is fitted with two of the same high grade Gen 1 image intensifier tubes. Each pair is colour and gain matched for optimum performance. The wide exit pupil diameter from each ocular means there is no need for interpupillary adjustment and a contoured one-piece wrap-around eyecup prevents external light intrusion.

The binocular unit can help to reduce eyestrain when used over prolonged periods and give better depth perception.

The Headmount is comfortable and fully adjustable, allowing hands-free use. When not required the unit can be flipped up out of view.

Yukon/Pulsar are the exclusive

manufacturer of the CF Super/Gen Super

image intensified system which offers

good edge-to-edge definition across

the field of view. Typically the difference

between the centre and edge definition

is not greater than 20%.

‘Digital’ is not truly a generation, there is

no image intensifier tube. Instead there is

a CCD or CMOS sensor (similar to a digital

camera) that is optimised to the infrared

spectrum.

Yukon and Pulsar’s digital night vision

systems offer excellent performance and

are resistant to bright light exposure. The

average life of a CCD used in a Yukon

or Pulsar product is 25,000 hours. An

advantage digital systems are sensitive

futher in to the infrared spectrum

allowing them to be used with fully cover

IR iluminators.

Pulsar’s Russian Gen 2+ systems offer

excellent sensitivity to light and high

resolution. They are designed to be a

passive starlight device and in many

conditions will not require an artificial

or IR light source - crucial for security

applications.

These are a powered light source, much

like a torch, but in the near infrared range

(generally 750-1000nm) that provides

light for image intensified and digital

night vision. Infrared light is normally

invisible to the human eye, but a red

glow may be visible from the illuminator’s

diode. Fully covert IR illuminators are

available, but can only be ‘seen’ by Gen 3

or digital systems. Many budget-priced

commercial night scopes come supplied

with a short-range LED IR illuminator to

enhance performance in low light/total

darkness. All IR illuminators are ‘active’

and can clearly be seen by anyone else

equipped with a night scope. Be careful

when using IR illuminators, especially

lasers - their extremely concentrated high

power beams can burn/damage image

All of the optical device names in this

brochure are followed by a number - for

example an NVMT Spartan 2x42. The first

number relates to the magnification and

the second number the diameter of the

objective lens. Therefore in the example

above the device has 2x magnification

and a 42mm objective lens.

IR ILLUMINATORS

The MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) of any

image intensifier tube is based on its use

in starlight (10-3 lux) conditions – any

light level above this reduces the tube life

at a faster rate. The use of a high power

artificial light source - such as an infrared

illuminator (IR) or gun lamp with an IR

filter – is no exception. It is important

that any IR illuminator illuminates the

whole area visible to the image intensifier

tube. The built-in protection circuits

within an image intensifier can only

sense illumination levels over the whole

Please Note:

It is important to realise that the

performance of night vision varies

from night to night and they are very

sensitive to the environment they are

being used in. Precipitation, humidity,

fog, cloud cover, temperature and the

physical area of observation all have an

impact on viewing ranges.

No two image intensifier tubes are

identical and consequently two of the

same night vision devices may perform

differently to each other.

with built-in laser IR iIluminators. These

provide a greater viewing range and

cleaner IR spot whilst consuming less

power.

All Pulsar IR illuminators comply with

Class 1 laser safety according to standard

IEC 60825. It means that Pulsar IR

illuminators can be safely used with

optical observation devices.

the tube. Long term exposure to a small

... area of bright illumination – such as a

laser only illuminating the central 10-20%

– will result in permanent damage to the

tube. This will make any warranty null and
