TYamamoto is the world’s best neoprene, their rubber has a 23% higher close cell structure than oil derived neoprene, while also having a maximum elongation of over 480%, where human skin stretches only up to about 60 to 70%. The extra cells are filled with nitrogen gas and this increases the warmth of the material.
Additionally, Yamamoto contend that their neoprene is close to 95% water impermeable, compared to the petroleum-based standard of almost 70%. So instead of being weighed down by the water in the suit, the surfer infact is much lighter, and warmer, reducing fatigue and increasing time in the water. This also affects the drying time of the suit which is only 20 minutes, making stepping into a wet and cold wetsuit a thing of the past. The neoprene is made from Limestone, so much more environmentally friendly than its oil derived competitor. Lastly, the front chest is Zirconium lined, increasing warmth in this core area.
