    01 DecemberNational Day held at NLD headquarters and other places

    A ceremony commemorating the National Day celebrated at the headquarters of the NLD. DawAung San Suu Kyi delivered a message to political parties and civilians including soldiers thatshe is trying to promote national reconciliation and urged people to be brave and unite to achievethe needs of the country. The NLD also released a statement urging the regime to release allpolitical prisoners and initiate a political dialogue.

    Over one thousand people including NLD members from States and Divisions, veteranpoliticians, youths and women members attended the ceremony. A talk about National Day wasalso made with Ko Lay Innwa Gonyi, a well-known poet as a speaker. The National Dayceremony was also held at some Townships such as Meiktilar, Mandalay, Tharyawaddy, Pegu,Kalay, Myeik and Kawthaung.

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyis interview with Kyodo News Agency

    Daw Suu urged the Japanese government to work together with other countries that are helpingBurmas democratic movement in an interview with Kyodo News Agency.

    02 DecemberWorld Aids Day held at the headquarters of NLDA ceremony in honor of the World Aids Day was held at NLD HQs attended by about 500people including NLD members, people living with HIV/AIDS, diplomats, NGO workers andmonks. In the entertainment section of the ceremony, some musicians sang songs and some poetrecited poems dedicating to the issue and the democratic movement. Daw Aung San Suu Kyiappreciated support for people living with HIV/AIDS and called for more helps.

    NLD members in Taung Gote Township distributed radios among people

    NLD members distributed mini-radios to grassroots people in the Myo Ma market of TaunggoteTownship. NLD members want people to listen to news from outside media, which is the onlyway for them to know about political activities.

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi urged Singapore government to engage with opposition groups as wellnot only with the military junta although she did not protest them for their engagement with theBurmas military government.

    CRPP meeting held

    Members of Committee Representing Peoples Parliament held a meeting at the NLD HQs anddiscussed about the emergence of the second Panglong conference. The CRPP also planned tomeet with political parties that haveparticipated in the previous elections todiscuss about the substance of theconference and possible way to bringabout national reconciliation out of theconference. CRPP members alsodecided to clarify the intension of theconference which is not to confrontwith the current regime but to build up

    a unity among all ethnic groups anddemocratic forces as well as militaryforces.

    04 DecemberNLD donated money for victims of Cyclone GiriNLDs Giri Relief Aid and Reconstruction Committee in Rakhine State went to the cycloneaffected areas in Myaybon, Pauktaw and Kyaukphyu Townships in Rakhine State and donated3.9 million kyats to the victims. The donated money was raised by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi andhanded to the committee. The committee bought rice bags and distributed them together with

    5000 kyat (about 5.5 US$) to the villagers in the affected areas.

    Discussion about law affairsA discussion about law matters was made at the headquarters of the NLD organized by NLDWomen Wing. U Nyan Win, an executive member and lawyer for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and amember of NLD Legal Team led the discussion.

    23rd November and kept low profile except some public appearances such as in World AIDS day

    and visit to Shwedagon pagoda and Bogyoke market. Daw Suu bid farewell at the air port to herson who went back to England.

    07 DecemberDaw Suu met with diplomats

    Daw Aung Suu Kyi met with diplomats from Denmark and Thailand at her lakeside residence.When she met with Thailands Ambassador to Burma, Apirath Vienravi, she received a phonecall from Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

    Daw Suu met with independent candidates

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with three independent candidates namely U Kaung Myint Htut, Dr.

    Saw Naing and U Zaw Min Thein, who failed to win seats in previous elections to collaboratewith the NLD in its social work. Dr. Saw Naing showed his interest in providing medicaltreatment free of charge in co-operation with the NLD and that U Kaung Myint Htut said he wasready to work with the NLD.

    08 DecemberDaw Suu offered alms to monks and nuns

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi offered 330 pairs of robes, 100 towels, umbrellas, footwear and funds to766 monks and novices and 119 nuns in front of the NLD headquarters dedicating for the releaseof political prisoners. NLD women wing usually offered alms to monks every Tuesday withintention for the release of political prisoners.

    Daw Suu met with Indian Ambassador and talked to diplomatsDaw Aung San Suu Kyi met with Indian Ambassador Mr. V.S. Seshadri at his residence inDagon Township on his invitation. Daw Suu talked to the US congressman Joseph Crowley andmet with NHK TV and some foreign reporters. She also talked to former Secretary of State Ms.Madeleine Albright on the phone.

    Daw Suu urged India government for closer relationship

    Daw Suu sent a video message to a celebration ceremony of her release at Press Club of India inNew Delhi jointly organized by Burmese democracy movement in India and Delhi basedWomen in Security Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP). In the video message, DawSuu urged Indian leadership to increase support for Burmas pro-democracy movement and saidthat over 2,000 political prisoners in Burma, as well as millions more, remain awaiting their rightto live in freedom and look toward India as a longstanding friend of Burma to helpin thatquest.

    Daw Suu met with Democracy and Peace PartyDaw Aung San Suu Kyi met with Democracy and Peace Party that has participated in theprevious election and discussed about Network for Democracy and possible ways for national

    reconciliation. The DPP explained their intension for participation in the elections and asked herabout what they wanted to know in details.

    Daw Suu sent a video message to European Parliament

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi sent a video message to the European Development Days at the closingday of the conference, in which she said, Dialogue and networking were one of the first issues Iaddressed after my release from house arrest. It is crucial to an environment where democraticvalues can prosper and is a strong impetus towards good governance.

    09 DecemberDaw Aung San Suu Kyi met with Ambassadors

    Daw Suu met with South Korean Ambassador Lee Kyung-Woo, and Mr. Julius Georg Luy,Germany Ambassadors separately at her residence.

    10 DecemberHuman Right Day held62

    ndanniversary of the International Human Rights Day was held at the headquarters of NLD.

    Family members of political prisoners attended the ceremony and Daw Aung San Suu Kyiencouraged them and discussed about the assistance to political prisoners across the country.Some of the family members explained their difficulties in supporting their beloved ones in theprisons due to rising commodity cost and location of the prisons. The ceremonies were also heldat the other parts of the country such as in South Dagon, Twante, Ahlone, Pegu, Pyay and

    Kawthaung.

    Daw Suu sent a video message to GenevaDaw Aung San Suu Kyi delivered a video message to the ceremony marking InternationalHuman Rights Day held at the UN offices in Geneva, Switzerland. She said in the video messagethat those who defend human rights must also be defended.

    Daw Suu met with US Deputy Assistant Secretary

    of State Joseph Yun

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with US DeputyAssistant Secretary for East Asian and PacificAffairs Joseph Yun at her residence during his fourdays visit to Burma. They discussed about manyissues including sanctions against the currentmilitary junta and current political situation. TheAssistant Secretary met with Daw Aung San SuuKyi alone at first and other NLD executivemembers and members of CRPP in the followingsections.

    Aung San Suu Kyi spoke with a group of high school students at Vashon Island High School in

    WA State via cell phone. The event, perhaps the first of its kind, was recorded in its entirety.

    11 DecemberDaw Suu talked to London based Burmese groupsDaw Aung San Suu Kyi made a phone conversation with 16 London based organizations that hasbeen working for Burmas democracy movement. She explained in this conversation currentpolitical situation and positions on them including second Panglong conference and armedconflicts in border areas.

    12 DecemberDaw Suu sent a message to Norway Burmese Culture Committee

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi sent an audio message to the Norway based Burmese CultureCommittee explaining her position on 21st century Panglong Confrence and role of Burmesepeople living abroad in democracy movement.

    13 DecemberNLD members donated blood

    In commemoration of the release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, NLD members in Rangoon andMandalay donated blood in the public hospitals.

    Daw Suu sent a video message to World Federation of Democratic Youth

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi sent a message to the 17th

    conference of the World Federation of

    Democratic Youth held from 13 to 21 in South Africa.

    NLD donated 10 million kyat to the victims of Cyclone Giri

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi handed the 10 million kyat to the Cyclone Giri Relief Committee to

    donate for the victims in the villages of the worst-hit townships of Myebon, Pauktaw,Kyaukphyu and Manaung. The committee members comprising Daw May Win Myint, U KyiWin from the NLD, U Aye Thar Aung and U Htaun-ko Tan from Committee RepresentingPeople' set out a trip to Rakhine State to donate to the victims.

    14 DecemberDaw Suu met with Rakhine NLD membersDaw Aung San Suu Kyi met with NLD members from Rakhine State Organizational Committeeincluding U Maung Kywin Aung, U Tin Thein Aung, U Thein Hlaing and U Soe Lay, who havebeen actively helping victims of the Cyclone Giri and discussed about relief assistance andorganizational matters in the State.

    NLD central executive committee met

    Regular meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the NLD met at the headquarters of theNLD. The CEC discussed about the Independence Day ceremony and declaration for theoccasion.

    NLD leaders and members attended funeral ceremony

    NLD leaders and members attended the funeral ceremony of a former political prisoner andpolitical activist U Aye Kyi, at the Yayway cemetery.

    NLD members released

    14 NLD members who had been arrested for holding the birthday ceremony of Daw Aung SanSuu Kyi were released from different prisons across the country. They had been separately sentto prisons in Putao, Myitkyina, Kalay, Mengsat, Sitwe, Khamtee, Mawlamyaing, Kawthaung andKengtong. They have to serve full prison term of two and half years.

    18 DecemberDaw Suu talked to Laura Bush on phone

    Laura Bush, the former first lady of the US made a phone conversation with Daw Aung San SuuKyi. Laura Bush said that she was heartened to hear the strong voice and enthusiasm of such aninspiring champion for human freedom.

    NLD Legal Aid Team extendedThe number of the members of NLD Legal Aid Team was now extended to 13 members. Thelegal licenses of some of the members have been revoked and some members moved to otherpolitical parties so that the team has been reformed with new members.

    19 DecemberGiri Relief Committee arrived at MyayponThe Committee members went to a Chin village near Minpya Township in Chin State anddonated rice bags, tarpaulin and some medicines for the victims. They would continue their tripto Kyauktaw Township.

    20 DecemberILO Liaison offer met with Daw SuuSteve Marshall, a liaison officer of ILO Liaison Office met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at herresidence and briefed about current activities of the ILO in Burma. They also discussed aboutchild soldiers, forced labor and human trafficking problems in Burma.

    Daw Suu met with German Ambassador

    Daw Aung San Su Kyi, on invitation, met with German Ambassador at his Embassy in Rangoon.

    21 DecemberDaw Suu met with ICRC officials

    Daw Suu met with officials from International Committee of Red Cross at her residence anddiscussed about current activities of ICRC and assistance to the political prisoners. She urged theofficials to assist political prisoners as much as possible.

    Daw Suu made a phone conversation with Indonesian Foreign MinisterDaw Aung San Suu Kyi talked to Indonesian Foreign Minister Marti Natalegawa. She expressedher appreciation for the support of the Indonesian government in Burmas democracy processand her hopes that Indonesia will continue to support the development of democracy in hercountry.

    Daw Suu met Ambassadors from Indonesia and the UK

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with Indonesian Ambassador Mr Sebastianus Sumarsono at hisEmbassy in Rangoon. In the afternoon, she also met with the British Ambassador at hisEmbassy.

    Daw Suu met with Chin leadersDaw Aung San Suu Kyi met with NLD leaders from Chin State and discussed about foodshortages due to natural disasters. She also found out some ways to address these problemstogether with Chin ethnic leaders.

    23 DecemberRussian Ambassador met with Daw Suu

    Dr. Mikhail M. Mgeladze, Ambassador of Russia met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at herlakeside residence.

    A talk about Panglong spirit

    A talk about Panglong Conference and its spirit was made at the headquarters of the NLD. U TinOo, vice chairman and U Win Tin, executive member led the discussion and participants askedquestions and exchanged views. About 200 people mostly young people attended the event. Theyalso discussed about the word federal in terms of a unity and consolidation.

    24 December

    Health Ministry would help NLDs HIV/AIDS rehabilitation centerAn HIV/AIDS rehabilitation center in South Dagon Township supervised by Ma Phyu PhyuThin, an NLD leader, was informed by an official from the Health Ministry that they wouldassist the centers activities. Dr. Hla Myint, head of the Rangoon Division Health Departmentmet with Ko Yar Zar and informed about their willingness to help them.

    Foreign Relation came and met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at her residence. East Timor

    President Jose Ramos Horta arranged their meeting.

    27 DecemberNLD members in Mandalay assist political prisoners

    Political Prisoners Assistant Team of Mandalay Division assisted 50,000 kyat for each of fourpolitical prisoners such as Ko Min Thu, U Ye Myint, U Than Aung and Ko Wunna Aung whoare now at different prisons across the country. There are 40 political prisoners in MandalayDivision.

    Daw Suu visited her mothers graveDaw Aung San Suu Kyi paid a visit to her mothers graveyard located at the foot of the

    Shwedagon pagoda. Her mother died in December 1988 at the age of 78.

    28 DecemberDaw Suu met young people

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with about 200 young people from different sections of society atthe headquarters of the NLD. They discussed about education, health, employment, economicproblems, social matters and development issues. They also discussed about some political issuessuch as second Panglong conference, how to overcome fear in their political struggle, how tocope with repression of political activists, the 1990 election result, the 2008 constitution, and herposition towards the elections held in 2010. After the discussion, they formed a network for

    further activities among them.

    Canadian Prime Minister invited Daw SuuCanada Prime Minister Mr. Stephen Harper invited Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to visit Canada.Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was honored Canadian Citizen by the Canadian government and Mr.Jack Layton, the leader of New Democratic Party (NDP) invited her early this month.

    30 DecemberNLD members met in Taungoo

    NLD members from Phyu, Taungoo and Yetarshay Township got together at the house of UAung Soe Myint in Taungoo and discussed about NLDs current situation and positions. The

    meeting also discussed about the network of youth which has been proposed by Daw Aung SanSuu Kyi in the previous conference with young people at the headquarters.

    Daw Suu met with NDF leaders

    Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met with U Khin Maung Swe, Dr. Than Nyein and Dr. Win Naing fromthe National Democratic Force, a breakaway party of the NLD that has participated in theprevious national elections, at the residence of U Tin Oo.

    Daw Suu met with Australian AmbassadorDaw Suu went to the Australian Embassy and met with the Ambassador Ms Michelle Chan onher invitation.

    31 DecemberDaw Suu talked to Ireland FMDaw Aung San Suu Kyi talked to Mr. Michael Martin, Ireland Foreign Minister on the phoneand discussed about independence struggle of both countries. Daw Suu also expressed hergratitude for Irelands support to Burmas democratic struggle.
