FLAC General Data Management Considerations

Overview of Faculty Load and Compensation (FLAC) Process

This section provides a broad view of the FLAC process so that you can see how your pay is calculated

and the steps that NLU has taken to ensure you are provided accurate pay.

Logging into Self-Service FLAC

The following is a step-by-step for using the NLU portal to access Banner Self-Service (ESS)

Logging into the FLAC Self Service Environment

From the NLU web site (http://www.nl.edu/), click on the NLU Portal

Next – Next –on the left of the page there is retractable menu, hover over it with your mouse anServices link”

You will be taken directly to self-service menu. Please select "Employee".

You are now at the first FLAC menu link – Click “Faculty Load Menu”.

Once you click on the “Faculty Load Menu you are ready to conduct your review and editing of the

contract items pushed in here by Payroll.

Accessing the Acknowledgement Page

The following is a step-by-step for using the NLU portal to access Banner Self-Service (ESS)

Adjunct or Faculty Contract Detail Acknowledgement Review Procedure:

The Acknowledgement web page is intended to show the courses that contribute to the pay faculty or

adjuncts will be receiving. The pay was calculated and reviewed by payroll for accuracy. To see the

details just follow the sample steps below.

Download to an Excel Sheet

You can view the information in an excel sheet. Follow the steps below to complete this.

From the Compensation view select ‘Organization Summary’ page.

- Click on the ‘Download Employee Data’. This will trigger the creation of an excel sheet and you

can save it to your local computer for review or use as needed. Note: there is not upload

process from the Excel sheet back into Banner ESS. Change must be made in FLAC ESS directly in

order for it to effect changes.

Review Training document - 5 minutes

Review the overall FLAC Processing for NLU – 15 minutes.

Demonstrate accessing ESS – 5 minutes

Demonstrate navigation for accessing the acknowledgment pages. – 15 minutes
