No. 015 for 20162017 Season Editors: A Perrott & R Sexton FROM THE ROWING CO-ORDINATOR What a great season and what a wonderful way to finish it off with a memorable Presentation Dinner on Head of the River evening. We heard from our wonderful rowers and their coaches about the season past, sharing stories of their trials and successes, we congratulated award winners and, most importantly spoke of next season which will again be bigger and better! Thank you to Rosalie Hassan for her work securing The Caterersfor the dinner and ensuring the night went as well as it could, thanks to Kym Wilson for co-ordinating setup of the gym while we were at the regatta and thanks to the Boat Club committee for their efforts creating centrepieces and other decorations for the dinner you all ensured a wonderful night was had by all. Thank you to rowing families for your support of your rower(s) and their coaches and for attending regattas and various Boat Club events throughout the season. Your presence and generosity with fundraising are both greatly appreciated. Many rowers have asked when we start up again. My suggestion when asked is to not be in a rush, take some time to reflect on last season and set goals for the next. Throw yourself into winter sport at School, consider joining a rowing club for winter training or try some cross training on a bike use your imagination so you can be as fit as possible and ready to tackle the new season! Finally, please note that the dates for the mid-season rowing camp have changed. In an effort to avoid the chaos on the river around Australia Day, the dates of this camp are now earlier from Thursday 4 January through to Sunday 7 January 2018. Please note this in your diary and bear in mind if making holiday plans!! Enjoy the break. ROW WELL AND GO PULTENEY!! FROM THE ROWING CO-ORDINATOR

What a great season – and what a wonderful way to finish it off with a memorable Presentation Dinner on Head of the River evening. We heard from our wonderful rowers and their coaches about the season past, sharing stories of their trials and successes, we congratulated award winners and, most importantly spoke of next season which will again be bigger and better!

Thank you to Rosalie Hassan for her work securing ‘The Caterers’ for the dinner and ensuring the night went as well as it could, thanks to Kym Wilson for co-ordinating setup of the gym while we were at the regatta and thanks to the Boat Club committee for their efforts creating centrepieces and other decorations for the dinner – you all ensured a wonderful night was had by all.

Throw yourself into winter sport at School, consider joining a rowing club for winter training or try some cross training on a bike – use your imagination so you can be as fit as possible and ready to tackle the new season!

Finally, please note that the dates for the mid-season rowing camp have changed. In an effort to avoid the chaos on the river around Australia Day, the dates of this camp are now earlier from Thursday 4 January through to Sunday 7 January 2018. FROM THE PRESIDENT

Rowing Fact:

Did you know!? The famous baby doctor and author Dr. Benjamin Spock won a gold

medal in 1924 in the men's eight Olympics for rowing.

I hope most of you have enjoyed a sleep in or two since the Rowing season ended. We

at the committee continue to work on our strategy for 2017/18 and how we will go about

raising those much needed funds for the club. Our hope this year is to fund a new

singles trailer, a new quad and essential items that go with a boat such as oars!

Our AGM is Monday 19 June 2017 and you are welcome to join us, we do have some

retiring members so we would love to have you along. Whilst holding elections for the

official members of the committee we will also be structuring our sub-committees in

Fundraising, Events, Catering and Communications. The sub-committees are a great

way for you to be a part of the action without having to go to the regular meetings around strategy and governance. If you are interested in joining a sub-committee just let

Martin Rooke or myself know.

At this time I would also like to again thank all those involved with the club, your support

this year has been tremendous, we have had a very successful year and a true team

effort.

Have a great winter and see you next season.

Alison Perrott President Pulteney Boat Club
