Toshiba’s innovative Inline Colour Printing System isdesigned for maximum efficiency in operation — the key tohigh-speed FC22i colour copying capability. For instance, thesystem allows simultaneous rotation of four drums in colourprinting, rather than rotation of one drum four separatetimes as in conventional units. As a result, the FC22i achieveshigh-speed performance as well as accelerated first copydelivery. In addition, Toshiba’s proprietary technologyfeatures an amazingly small drum size (30Ø) for greatlyreduced copier dimensions, as well as a straight paper path.This streamlined design greatly simplifies the copierconfiguration, for fewer paper jams. To cut down on paper loading time, the FC22i allowsa maximum 3,950-sheet input from up to six sources,including two 600-sheet cassettes, a 50-sheet stack-feedbypass, two optional 600-sheet cassettes, and an optional1,500-sheet LCF (Large Capacity Feeder). Optional ADU(Automatic Duplexing Unit) contributes to faster, moreefficient automatic two-sided copying. Optional RADF(Reversing Automatic Document Feeder) automatically feedsdocuments and turns them over for rapid two-sided copying.An optional staple sorter collates, staples, and concludesfinishing steps. The result is start-to-finish efficiency,allowing the FC22i to achieve optimum productivity.

This allows checking of full-sized pages, showingmargins and even trim marks. The FC22i also handles smallerpaper sizes to Statement-R minimum.

SUPERIOR RESULTS ON SPECIAL PAPERS ANDNEW OHP CAPABILITIES

The Toshiba Inline Colour Print system allows greaterflexibility of paper stock, and the FC22i also has a “thickpaper mode” which handles paper up to 110 lbs Indexsheets. OHP (overhead projector) film printing combines theuse of the highly developed toner and a fixation method toassist in eliminating glare and to enhance ink stability oneach sheet. Areas of vivid colour can also be created with ahigh degree of transparency for an attractive improvementin presentation quality. For special convenience, OHP filmcan be loaded into the second cassette, which holds up to100 sheets. HIGH-QUALITY IMAGE PRINTING CAPABILITIES

From the first print to the last, the FC22i printing enginedelivers high-resolution printing at 600 dpi for superiorhigh-quality image reproduction. To avoid fading ordiscoloration common to conventional colour copier/printeroutput and ensure consistent image processing conditions,the FC22i applies Toshiba proprietary image quality controltechnology using a CPU and sensors. By monitoringdeviations from standard values, the CPU automaticallycorrects for differences by changing image processingconditions, maintaining image quality. The CPU even has alearning function which memorizes recurring conditions andadopts previous adjustment methods. This reduces timeneeded to achieve optimal image processing.

HIGH-QUALITY IMAGE COPYING FUNCTIONS

The FC22i achieves exceptionally sharp copying resolution of9,600 dpi equivalent x 600 dpi with 256 gradations andprinting resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. A smoothing algorithmchanges 600 dpi scanned and stored images in memory intofiner, smoother ones. During the printing process, precisecontrol of print dots produces an ultra-fine one-sixteenth ofa 600 dpi pixel. Smoothing techniques allow razor-sharpreproduction of font characters as well as picture halftones,including highlights.

10-bit scanning for brilliant colourThe FC22i 10-bit colour scanner can scan as many as 1,024gradations for each RGB colour, rather than a mere 256gradations with an 8-bit scanner. This exceptional scanningresolution ensures clear, high-quality copies and brillianttrue-to-life colour reproduction. In addition, the FC22i isparticularly skilful in reproducing black, dark blue, andpurple, capturing the subtle nuances of original colour works.

Image Optimization Modes to match each documentA variety of FC22i functions helps guarantee best results onmany different types of documents. Text Mode ensuressharpness and clarity of text elements. Photo/Text Mode is adefault setting for an automatic balance of graphic and textelements. Print Paper Photo Mode adjusts for the quality ofprinting paper.
