It’s Neighbourhood House Week on April 30-May 6th and Naonal Volunteer Week is May 21-27 . So, take the me in May to say thank you to all the volunteers out there in our community. Come along for lunch on May 23rd at the Yarram Historical Society. Sunday 13th is also Mothers Day. Come along to a photography course, or singing or sewing group. Do you need your RSA? FREE TRAINING

Family Violence and

Bystander Training

This training has come about as

a recommendation from the

Royal Commission. All commu-

nity groups are being asked to

undertake this training and Yar-

ram Neighbourhood House has

secured the training in Yarram

for free. So, come along and

learn more about how to iden-

tify family violence and empow-

er the community to prevent

violence.

We have Heather and Fiona

from Gippsland Women’s

Health coming to deliver the

workshops. You can come to

one or both sessions.

At the Fitness Zone Do you want to get fit, or a bit more active?

We have a class for everyone!

There are spaces available in most classes.

Our experienced trainers offer a range of

classes to suit everyone.

From Fast and Furious, for those who want a

cardio workout, to Strength training for

those who want to maintain strength and

tone. We have also started a Dancefit class

on a Wednesday evening and a Wednesday

mid-morning strength class.

Classes are $7.50/session ($8.50 for boxing)

Do you like gardening? Driving? Doing odd jobs? Have you got

some spare time? Then why not volunteer at YDHS? YDHS is currently recruiting to a variety of volunteer roles within the health service.

We are currently seeking:

A weekly driver for the Planned Activity Group (PAG);

Someone to plant and maintain the PAG garden;

A maintenance assistant to help with projects and odd jobs;

Someone to lead the weekly Heart Foundation walk around town;

Early childhood volunteers to assist young children with behavioural or learning issues (Working with Children

Check required);

A volunteer to manage the ordering and restocking for the “Tuckerbox”;

An assistant for the weekly Tai Chi class. No experience necessary, training will be provided and attendance will be

free;

A weekly bingo assistant for our Crossley House residents;

Mealtime buddies to provide encouragement and assistance to nursing home residents at meal times;

Casual drivers for all our programs;

Exercise buddies to assist nursing home residents to perform exercises / and / or go for walks.

All volunteers are provided with relevant training and staff support. Time and day are flexible and based on volunteer’s

interests.
