NWS Enterprise Architecture Solution (NWWS-2; replaces CSC NWWS leased service)

1. SBN/NOAAPORT Satellite• Channel 201 (NWWS Products only) Developmental- Ready for Operations

2. “Open Interface” via NWS Internet Dissemination System (NIDS)• Java Chatroom/XMPP

3. Nlets (The International Justice and Public Safety Network)• Custom filtered service for NWWS-2 products

4. End User Client (EUC) software with individual and dual ingest parsing function to meet “high” availability requirements;

• Current Issues being worked:– Available set of products on dissemination paths.

• SBN/NOAAPORT-NIDS• NWSTG-NIDS• AWIPS WAN – NIDS• Handling of Tsunami products

– Differences in product formats (WMO, XMPP, SBN/NOAAPORT Packet)

– SBN/NOAAPORT Narrowband to Broadband Expansion impact on 1.8m dish configuration.• Specification compliance issue/situation

• Satellite Product Stream Findings:– For high availability BOTH SBN/NOAAPORT and Open

Interface are required. All messages are captured regardless of format issues.

– 1.8m dish reception of SBN/NOAAPORT PID 201 will have errors and missed messages.• Interference is from an adjacent satellite.• Discussions being held with Raytheon and GlobeComm on possible

mitigations for using 1.8m dishes.

– 2.4m dish reception of SBN/NOAAPORT PID 201 - Good
