The ,-B can 'e duplicated to pro.ide redundanc)6 Upon failure in the acti.e M-5

the other ,-B starts and ta(es o.er as M-6

The Random %ccess and Recei.er R%&" 'oard comprises the BB R& part5 mainl)ta(ing care of the following:

 %TM switch ports located on other 'oards5 through the 'ac(plane6 %n SCB can

also 'e connected with up to four other SCBs located in other su'rac(s5 and to the

R+ su'rac( for %TM switching parts6

The s)stem power is distri'uted to the su'rac( 'ac(plane through the SCB6 The

SCB contains a power filter function for s)stem power6 The SCB also super.ises5 controls and pro.ides power to the su'rac( fans6

The SCB can 'e duplicated to pro.ide redundanc)6 *f one SCB stops wor(ing5 the

other ta(es o.er the traffic6 The first slot and the last slot in the BB and R+ su'rac(

 are reser.ed for SCBs normall)"6
