Proposer’s Statement
Why the Association wants to propose the Nominee
Australia wishes to continue to make a significant contribution on the Council of FIG, as it has done so in the past. On this occasion the nominee is a young, dynamic and forward thinking woman who has made a significant contribution to the FIG Young Surveyors Network (FIG YSN), and as Chair since 2011. She has had significant international experience while studying for her undergraduate degree and since then, notably as Youth and Land Research Consultant of UN-HABITAT since 2013. The SSSI believes that Kate Fairlie will bring a young person’s perspective to FIG, which will enhance the participation of young people in FIG, thus ensuring the future of the organization. As well the SSSI believes that the proximity of Australia to Asia will enable Kate to interact with the Asian community of surveyors and especially the increasing numbers of young surveyors. This is an excellent opportunity for the FIG community to include a young person on its Council. SSSI strongly supports Kate Fairlie’s nomination for the position of Vice President of FIG.
What support (financial, administrative and others) can the Association provide to the Nominee if elected Vice President
SSSI could supply limited financial support and secretarial support through the FIG National office.

Mr CheeHai Teo President International Federation of Surveyors Address Dear Mr Teo, SSSI fully supports the nomination of Ms Kate Fairlie as Vice President of FIG. Ms Fairlie has taken a
keen interest in FIG affairs since her graduation from the University of NSW in 2008. Her experience
in FIG has been as Regional Coordinator for FIG Young Surveyors Working Group from 2007 – 2010,
Young Ambassador 2008 – 2010 and at the FIG Congress, Sydney 2010, and Chair, FIG Young
Surveyors Network since 2011. In addition, she has been a Youth and Land Research Consultant of
UN-HABITAT since 2013. Her application demonstrates that she is strongly motivated to play a
significant role in FIG, particularly to see that young surveyors have a strong voice in FIG affairs.
She is an enthusiastic worker for the FIG community and I believe she will make an important
contribution to the decision making processes of FIG. Therefore SSSI strongly recommends her for
the position of Vice President of FIG.
Yours sincerely,
John Trinder
President
