Dear Alumni, Donors, and Friends,

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this; He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. —Psalm 37:5-6

This past school year was filled with celebrations. Many people gathered at our 50th Anniversary Celebration and Worship to acknowledge the sacrifices our Founding Fathers made and their foresight to dream of a place like Lincoln Lutheran.

We also celebrated the retirement of four teachers who had over 100 years of combined teaching experience —Don Duitsman, John Roeber, Donna Willet, and Susan Carlson. Over my five years at Lincoln Lutheran, I have gotten to know all of these outstanding people and have seen first hand the impact they have on the lives of our students. They will be missed!

Our Development Office also had reason for celebration. Our 17th Annual Gala & Auction was blessed again with over 420 people attending, our special project raised $43,560 to purchase iPads for the teaching staff, and our gym advertising initiative continues to grow and provide revenue for the Activities Department.

If you watch KOLN you may see our new commercial that will continue to air throughout the year. This ad is part of our overall marketing plan to reach the Lincoln community. Every event and celebration happens only with God’s blessing and direction. As I put together this annual report, it provided me time to reflect on what has happened over the school year and made me further realize the importance of our ministry here.

Thank you again for your continued support of Lincoln Lutheran. We would not be here without you.

Ambassador in Christ,

Amy K. Jurgens Development Director

Lincoln Lutheran Middle/High School receives no money from local, state or federal taxes. Lincoln Lutheran relies on tuition income, church assessments, annual contributions and other fundraising efforts to meet operating expenses. Tuition and fees cover approximately 86% of the cost of an education at Lincoln Lutheran. Each year we rely on charitable giving to bridge the gap between revenue and expenses , leaving us with the need to raise nearly $400,000 in order to fulfill our mission.

Lincoln Lutheran Says Good -Bye

Give To Lincoln Day-a Huge Success

John Roeber joined the Lincoln Lutheran faculty in the fall of 1973, completing 39 years of service this spring. Mr. Roeber has taught Math, Industrial Arts, and Religion during his tenure. He served as Junior High Boys’ Basketball Coach for many years and also served as Yearbook Sponsor. Mr. Roeber was instrumental in planning the additions for the High School and has served as Facilities Director for a number of years. Many students developed their wood-working and construction skills under Mr. Roeber’s tutelage.

Don Duitsman joined the Lincoln Lutheran faculty during the winter of 1985, completing over 27 years of service this spring. Mr. Duitsman taught Science, Computer, Math, and Social Studies at the Junior High level and also taught Math at the Senior High level before being named Activities Director. Over the years Mr. Duitsman coached Junior High Girls’ Basketball, both Junior High and High School Track, and High School Boys’ Basketball. He has served as Activities Director since Lincoln Lutheran added the High School, building a top-notch program for grades 6–12.

Donna Willet joined the Lincoln Lutheran faculty in the fall of 1991, completing 21 years of service this spring. Mrs. Willet has taught Art and Crafts. She has mentored numerous students, fostering their talent and love of art. Mrs. Willet led the effort to incorporate student and professional art in our facility and was responsible for the creating the entryway bulletin board displays.

Susan Carlson joined the Lincoln Lutheran faculty in the fall of 1995, completing 17 years of service this spring. Mrs. Carlson has taught Family and Consumer Science and Crafts during her years here. Mrs. Carlson has taught many students cooking and sewing as life skills. She has sponsored several “Project Runway” events as fundraisers for the FCS Department and has contributed her time to organizing faculty activities.

We are deeply indebted to these teachers who have shown a tremendous level of dedication to our ministry! We will miss their leadership as experienced teachers, their warmth and support of younger faculty members, and their ongoing example of service in building Christian leaders for the future.

On May 17th, over 70 donors including our alumni, parents and friends supported us through “Give to Lincoln Day”, sponsored by the Lincoln Community Foundation. Over $1.3 million dollars were raised for local non-profits in the Lincoln and Lancaster County area.

During these 24–hours, our supporters gave $18,889.54 through: • $10,685 in online gifts • $5,175 in offline gifts • $2,829.54 in Lincoln Community Foundation match • $200 in prize money

God truly blessed this day! We look forward to next year’s campaign and getting our name out even more.

march 2012 The Annual Gala & Auction was held on March 17th at Embassy Suites Lincoln. Our theme for this year’s event was “Celebrating 50 years of Christ-Centered Education”.

What a blessing to celebrate 50 years in ministry!

We gathered to celebrate Lincoln Lutheran and review the great accomplishments of the past year, while also looking forward to the blessings of the year to come.

This year we honored Steve & June Taege and Bob & Delores Haberman. These fellow Warriors made sacrifices and gave their time and talents to our ministry. We are blessed to have supporters like them.

A few highlights from the Gala include: • 421 alumni, donors and friends attended • $132,595 was raised • $22,200 in scholarship money was donated • $43,560 was given to buy iPads for teachers

Praise God - to Him be the glory!

may 2012 The Commencement Service of Lincoln Lutheran High School took place on May 20th in the main gym. There were 69 graduates who chose Proverbs 3:5-6 as their theme verse:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways submit to Him, and he will make your paths straight.” The speaker was the Rev. Dr. Christopher Ahlman, Class of 1998. He was the first student to graduate from Lincoln Lutheran and walk across the stage to receive his diploma. Class 2012 was the 15th graduating class.

june 2012 Over 60 people participated in this year’s golf tournament, raising $14,379 to help bridge the gap between revenue and expenses. Every dollar raised helps keep the cost

of tuition down and supports our ministry of educating young adults to be faithful servants of Christ.

august 2011The annual Booster Bash took place August 26th on a beautiful summer evening filled with celebration of upcoming fall sports and activities. Our volleyball and football

teams scrimmaged, other fall sports were introduced, and the marching band and Blue Angels performed.

This school year marked the 50th Anniversary of Lincoln Lutheran Junior High School. It is truly humbling to realize the lives impacted by this ministry. We also celebrated record enrollment with 397 students. God has blessed the Warrior family in so many ways. To Him be the Glory!

september 2011 On September 25th, over 200 people gathered to worship and celebrate 50 years of Christ-centered education. The service was led by our association churchs’ pastors and

the Rev. Dr. Luke Biggs presented the sermon. Several songs were sang by a choir composed of current Lincoln Lutheran students and alumni from the junior and senior high schools. After the worship, many stayed to catch up with old friends and reminisce.

Homecoming Week followed the 50th Anniversary celebration and culminated with the crowning of the king and queen. This year’s royalty were Hayley Majorins and Cody Claridge. Many people joined in the tailgate at Nebraska Wesleyan University on September 30th. During football game halftime, Ron Kuehn was honored as our Distinguished Alumni and Jill (Weyand) Fiddler was honored as our Distinguished Young Alumni.

The week’s festivities and celebration were concluded at Misty’s Steakhouse & Brewery with a Coming Home gathering for all alumni and friends. It was great to celebrate being a Warrior!

october 2011 Fall was filled with sports and music concerts. Also in October and several times throughout the year, we host a clothing exchange for people in the community.

Donations of clothing and household items were accepted at the school benefiting between 30-40 families through the generosity of our Lincoln Lutheran family and friends. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a huge success.

november 2011 The weekend of November 11–13, was filled with a royal court in an endearing fairytale about a young women who became a princess. Many people enjoyed this

musical version of “Princess and the Pea”. Many hours of rehearsal and practice made for another entertaining production by our drama department.

january 2012 On January 20th, we opened our doors to all families interested in sending their children to Lincoln Lutheran.

Lincoln Lutheran exists to equip young

people to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ by providing an excellent, Christ-centered education. We do this by offering: • challenging academic programs grounded in Christian teaching and beliefs. • smaller class sizes allowing students to learn and develop relationships with their teachers. • an extensive extracurricular program allowing students to be involved in activities and to develop leadership skills. • A faculty and staff that is deeply committed to our mission.
