Borderline products

• Sorbitol– In Iceland there are two products on the market, one sold

as medicine and the other as food supplement.– How is this in the other nordic countries?

• Melatonin– In Iceland we have circadin on the market but people are

trying to import melatonin as food supplement from the US.

– How is this in the other nordic countries?

• Glucosamine– In Iceland we have no product containing glucosamine,

because we classify it as medicine and the market is not large enough.

– How is this in the other nordic countries?

• Melanotan– We have got enquiries from the customs on how they

should handle personal import of melanotan. – What do you do? Do you have legislation that handles

this kind of products?

Borderline products

• E-cigarettes– There are no legal e-cigarettes with nicotine on the

market.– There have been many importers that have been trying

to import those cigarettes but as we consider them medicine they have not been allowed.

– The latest change in those e-cigarettes is that they have got marked with CE.

– How is the e-cigarettes handled in your country?

Classification issues in Iceland• In 2011 the price for classification was increased from 25.000 ikr to

70.000 ikr and after that there have only been two classifications
