The 7th Annual Winter Silhouette Bonsai
Show was held December 7th & 8th in
Kannapolis NC. It was a great event with
Demos by world-class bonsai artists
William Valavanis, Owen Reich, Tyler
Sherrod and Rodney Clemons.
The display was really something special. I
have included a few photographs of my
favorites and full professional photographs
can been seen at www.winterbonsai.net.

It is not a stretch to say that the last holiday party was one of the best NFBC has had! The food everyone
brought to share was fantastic and there was more than enough to go around. I personally might have partaken
in seconds and thirds and somehow ended up with a cake to take home (thanks Linda!). I am still not sure what
was in the “crack dip” but it was definitely a crowd favorite... (I still need that secret recipe).
There were quite a few trees, pots, and tools
available for sale or trade. This seemed like a
popular idea and we might need to incorporate
it into future meetings.
The tree decorating was very well done and Ron
really upped the ante with his stunning Ilex
Schillings. There were red jeweled accents that
complemented the tree perfectly along with
presents, lighting, music, and a Santa Claus in his
likeness. Not to be outdone, Tristan presented a
gorgeous camellia in full winter bloom which
was also decorated for the season. Tristan put
up stiff competition by Ron edged him out by a
few votes. Thank you to all who participated
(Ron, Tristan, Josh B., Ryan, and Sandra)

Not recommended in pots larger than 6in. Nearly 5 gallons of DRYSTALL a pumice product for horses. It works fine for bonsai trees too! Nearly 5 gallons of Crimson red. Good for top dressing or adding some weight to your soil for trees that like to move.
Nearly 5 gallons of Crushed granite.
