• Drug misuse higher than UK average (rehab centres in Weston-super-Mare)
• The biggest causes of premature death in North Somerset are circulatory diseases, which include heart disease and stroke, and cancer.
• The single biggest cause of disability is mental health. Suicide rates are significantly higher than the national average
Our patients needs are changing with demography
• North Somerset will see around a 32% increase in the number of people aged over 75 in next 5 years compared with national average of 11%
