CHRISTMAS AT

NORTH SPRAY Christmas at North Spray Christian Church is always a wonderful time of year and this year promises to be no exception. Every Sunday there will be a special emphasis on Christmas. The schedule is as follows:

Dec. 4th……...The Christmas Story presented in

song by our choir and special guests.

That afternoon Marilyn and I will open our home (200 Wilson St.) to the church from 3 to 5pm for fellowship and refreshments.

Dec. 11th…….I will be presenting my Christmas message entitled: “Little Things in the Christmas Story.”

Dec. 18th…….Our youth will be presenting their

Christmas Play.

Dec. 25th…….We will have a short worship service. I will be sharing a special reading by Max Lucado, entitled: “CHRISTMAS, It Began in a Manger.” We have been asked, “Are you having a service on Christmas Day?” My question is: “Why would we not?” Come help us make this one of the most meaningful Christmases ever! On Sunday, October 30, we had a wonderful service with missionary speaker, Dr. C.Y. Kim. Dr. Kim is a missionary to North Korea, China, Cambodia, and the Philippines. He shared about his work during the Sunday School hour. He brought a wonderful message in the worship service. We were truly blessed to have this man of God with us.

Christian Church will present their annual drive through Nativity,

“Night of Miracles,” from 7:00-

9:00 p.m. The church is located at 1116 Fieldcrest Road. Go by, drive through, and see this meaningful observation of the Christmas story.

Our annual congregational meeting will be on

Sunday, December 4. At this time deacon and

elder candidates for 2017 and the 2017 budget will be presented. Mark your calendar now and be present for this important meeting. The Chancel Choir, along with some guests, will

Cooperative Christian Ministries

(CCM) By Sylvia Brown, Editor

The CCM food pantry is located at the

Leaksville Moravian Church. The food pantry is open 9:30-12:00 on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. They are no longer taking calls before distributing food bags. Those in need should just go to the church and they will be assisted once a month.

We are asked to

bring food on the first

Sunday of each month and place it in the box in the hallway. There is

always a need for 2 lb. bags of sugar & flour,

peanut butter and jelly, rice, powdered or canned

milk, cereal, crackers, and all canned goods,

especially meats, soups, and fruits. You may also give monetary donations to

help with medications, utilities, and purchasing extra food. These can be put in a pew envelope and marked for CCM on the outside or send your donations to PO Box 931, Eden, NC 27289-0931. We thank you for the food you give each month.

Please continue to bring food items as often as

you can. Thanks also to Barney & Lou Strutton for delivering our donations to the food closet each month.

We observed “Bringing in the Harvest” on

Sunday, November 20 during worship service. Everyone brought non-perishable goods to go to

CCM. These food donations and our tithes and

Thanksgiving special offerings were taken to the front of the church during the offertory as the choir sang “Bringing In the Sheaves.”

Salvation Army Service We are serving meals at the Salvation Army on the 3rd and 5th Fridays each month. This month our date

will be Fridays, December 16 & 30. Our thanks to those who serve so faithfully. If you would like to volunteer to help with this ministry, please see Bobbie Hill.

Youth Yak. . .

The Youth Christmas play will be presented on

Sunday, December 18, followed by a hot dog

lunch in the fellowship hall. The youth will have

play practice on Wednesdays, December 7 & 14 at

6:00 p.m. They will also practice on Saturday,

December 17 at 2:00 p.m.

A fourth stew has been set for March 11. The proceeds will go toward the General Fund. The

youth will also have a Bake Sale to raise money to help with their Destination Unknown trips. Baked goods for the sale will be accepted on Friday, March

10 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. We request that they be priced when you bring them.

Women at Work. . .

Christian Women’s

Fellowship (CWF) By Faye Wood, President

The next meeting of the CWF will be on Monday,

December 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the home of Sylvia

Wilson. Bring a finger food dish and a $10 gift. All of our ladies are invited to join us.

The CWF has boxed greeting cards (priced on

box), lemon flavoring ($2.50 per bottle), and Danny

Duzit scrubbing pads ($2.00 each) on sale. These may be purchased from any member of the CWF. Money can be given to Michelle Walker or the church office. These items are in the closet just

beyond the coat rack in the hallway. Check out the

new designs that have been ordered in the cards.

Men at Work. . .

Christian Men’s

Fellowship (CMF)

Our next stew will be on Saturday, January 14,

2017. Other stew dates are February 11 and March

11 (see article in Youth Yak).

The CMF will meet again on Monday, January 9, at

6:30 p.m. at Church Street Station. All of our men are encouraged to attend. Prayer meeting will be at 6:00 p.m.

Our Veterans were recognized on Sunday, November 13 in our worship service. We would like to thank all of our veterans, past and present, for their service to our country!

Our children blessed our shoeboxes on Sunday, November 13, and we delivered 24 shoeboxes to the drop off location on Friday, November 18. Thanks for your participation in Operation Christmas Child this year.

Faye Clark celebrated her 90th birthday with a party on November 13. We wish Faye a very happy birthday!

Join us for our Fellowship Reception, each

Sunday, 10:30-10:55 a.m. in the fellowship hall. Doughnuts, biscuits, and drinks are available, along with great fellowship before worshiping together. We hope that you are enjoying our fellowship each week. Unless someone is bringing it to you, we kindly request that no food, drinks, or candy be brought into the sanctuary.

Each Monday night some of our members are meeting at the church to pray for our church. We share prayer concerns, pray, and share communion

beginning at 6:30 p.m. Come, join us! Paul White, one of our elders, is available each Sunday after worship service in the Searchers’ classroom to pray with you or for you and any special needs you may have.

We will be selling holiday luminaries to be displayed along the church walkways at the

Christmas Eve service for our second General

Fund Faithraiser. Luminaries will be $5.00 each. Luminaries may be purchased in honor or memory of a loved one. There will be a sheet in the bulletin to list those you would like to honor/memorialize. You may also download a return form at northspraychristianchurch.com/2016luminaries.pdf. See Heather Wakefield or Thomas Knight to purchase a luminary. Deadline is Sunday, December 18.

The next meeting of the board will be on Monday,

January 16, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. All committee chairs are encouraged to attend or send a report from your committee. Prayer meeting will be at 6:00 p.m.

The Thursday Bible Study group is meeting on

Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. We are meeting in our conference room. Come out and join us!

If your group wants to use the church bus for transportation to an event, please fill out a Bus Usage Permission Form, located in the office, and give it to Thomas Knight or Heather Wakefield.
