Geography/Climate ● Most of North Africa is desert

● Parts that are mediterranean overgrown forest and semi-desert the region also has a highland climate.

● Atlas mountains reach from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean sea.

● The biome of this region is desert. this area is the home of the longest river the Nile. the desert is a dominant factor in North African environment. The mountains are important to the historical development of the area.

● The vegetation of this area is mostly desert, semi desert and mediterranean.

People:

Egypt: egyptians, speak arabic (main language) english and french are known, religion is

Muslim (90%) Christian (10%)

Algeria:Culture-Berber or Arab Religion-Sunni Muslim, christians Arts-Rug making, pottery,

embroidery, and jewelry making are practiced Music-influenced by global trends Rap style (Rai) is a modern form Dancing-traditional forms

Tunisia: Tunisia, groups; Arabs (98%) European (1%) Jewish and other (1%) they speak

French, Berber< and Arabic

Western Sahara: sahrawi and Sahraoui languages are Standard Arabic, Hassaniya Arabic,

and Moroccan arabic, Mostly Muslim

People:

Morocco: Berbers, Arabs, and Muslim language-Darija, combination of arabic, berber, and

french housing- tightly packed towns, buildings made of stone, clay, straw, and manure

Libya: culture-libyan Jewish and italian food-couscous

Resources:

Western sahara has phosphites.In Morocoo there are many resources such as iron ore, phosphate, petrolium, coal, colbalt, lead, zinc, manganese, and silver. In Algeria they are products like lead, lots of petroleum, mercury, uranium, natural gases, coal, phosphates, and iron ore. In Libya they have lots of petroleum, coal, natural gases, and iron ore. In Tunisia iron ore, phosphate and coal are their resources. In Egypt they have lots of iron and petroleum but little coal. The good rich coal in the northern region causes a lot of terrorism of people trying to steal the coal.

Government:Most countries have a republic which means the government is represented by the people of that country. Morocco has a constitutional monarchy which means they are run by a king.

Economy:

● The economy of North Africa consists of the trade, industry, agriculture, and human resources.

● Libya’s GDP is 75.46 billion dollars. Algeria’s GDP is 210.2 billion dollars, morocco’s GDP is 104.4 billion dollars. Western Sahara’s GDP is 906.5 billion dollars. Tanzania's GDP is 47.13 billion dollars, and Egypt's GDP is 272 billion dollars.

● The GDP per capita of the North African countries are, Algeria-5,360.70, Libya- 12,167.40, Egypt- 3,314.46, Tunsania- 4,329.10, Morocco- 3,108.65 dollars, western sahara- 2,500,

Current Issues weapons trafficking has spread across North Africa since the Arab awakening two years ago.Arms dealing is another growing problem. Libya has been haemorrhaging the weapons stockpile of its former leader, Muammar Qaddafi, since his fall nearly two years ago. A UN report notes that some reach Mali with the help of Algeria and Tunisia, and that the flow to Egypt has intensified since the start of 2012, with some arms ending up in Gaza, the Palestinian enclave ruled by rebels. the worst of the trafficking has been linked to terrorist organisations
