1995 NCDS Daffodil Show The 1995 NCDS Spring Daffodil Show will be held the second weekend in March (March 11-12) at the Marina Community Center, 340 Marina Blvd., Pittsburg. Show Chairman this year is Sharilynn Schuetz. The banquet will be Saturday, March 11, at the Liberty House Hotel Restaurant in Pittsburg. Happy Hour will be at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a choice of both entree and price:

$1 5.00 Chicken Kiev London Broil with Demi Glace Sauce

$20.00 Prime Rib Fresh Catch of the Day (Salmon, Halibut, or Swordfish)

All dinners will include green salad with honey caper sauce, dessert and coffee. Wine will be available at $2.50 per glass.

Please send your reservation with your choice of entree to Sharilynn Schuetz 5654 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94618 ASAP, but no later than March 7. She needs to make arrangements with the restaurant.

For those of you who plan to stay over night, Sharilynn has arranged special room rates at the Best Western Heritage Inn in Antioch at the Somersville Road Exit from Hwy.4. For $55 you have your choice of a king size bed with whirlpool or a double with two queens. You need to mention the flower show to receive these rates. There is Denny's on site and Lyon's across the street

Membership Dues The annual dues in the NCDS ($5.00 individual and $8.00 household) are now due for 1995. Please send your dues to Nancy Tackett 066 Green St. Martinez 94553 or give them to her at the End of Winter party 2/26 or at the show. We have not yet completed the database to again show the expiration of your dues on mailing labels, but Nancy has a list. It will be proposed at the next NCDS Board meeting that the dues for 1996 be increased by $2.00 per membership. The proposed dues rate would be $7.00 individual and $10.00 household.

NCDS End of Winter Party The NCDS End of Winter party will be at the lovely home of George Perko and Phil Stanley in the Oakland hills on Sunday, February 26. It will start at 1:00 p.m. and be followed by a potluck supper at 3:00 p.m. If you have not entered a daffodil show before and would like to do so, we can have some of our local experts show you how to groom, clean, and stage them. You can get advice on how to choose which of your own daffodils you would like to enter at the show in March. We offer suggestions on what you might bring: Last name initial: A through D -dessert

E through L - main dish M through R - salad S through Z - hors d'oeuvres or munchies

If you have a specialty or if you prefer to bring something else, that's fine. Please call Jan Moyers (415) 453-5261 let us know if you are coming and what you will bring. NCDS will furnish plates, utensils and beverages.

Directions to George and Phil's: 5980 Grizzly Peak Blvd. Oakland (510)845-9608 Coming from east side of Oakland/Berkeley hills: Take 24 to Fish Ranch Road exit. Coming from the bay side of the Oakland/Berkeley hills: Take 24 through the Caldecott tunnel. Stay on the far right side of tunnels. As soon as you exit the tunnel take Fish Ranch Road exit. Go to the top of the hill (Stop sign Grizzly Peak Blvd.). Turn left on Grizzly Peak. Drive past Grizzly Terrace (twice). Distance from turn is about a mile and a half. The driveway is on the left next to five mailboxes. Please park on the street and walk up the driveway to the third house.
