NORTHERN ONTARIO EXPORTS An Intensive One-Day Export Forum for Northern Ontario Mining Supply and Services Companies Dear Colleagues; The mining supply and services sector is a significant engine of Northern Ontario’s economy, employing roughly two people for everyone one employed directly in mining. According to the Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Services Association (SAMSSA), a recent study indicated that the sector employs greater than 25,000 people with sales upwards of $6 billion. Furthermore, a Pan-Ontario mining supply and services economic impact study, commissioned by the Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export (CAMESE) and released last Fall, stated that globalization and increasing competition, partly due to the changing relationship between mining companies and suppliers, also results in increased opportunity. In both studies, companies indicated that obtaining access to and knowledge of global markets, growth through diversification, and employing appropriate promotion and marketing to be the greatest opportunities for mining supply and services companies. With this in mind the Mining Supply and Services Export Assistance program, delivered by Ontario’s North Economic Development Corporation and funded by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and FedNor, has developed a unique one-day Northern Ontario Exports forum designed to increase the global reach of your products and services. Featuring an innovative blend of speakers and mining sector insights, this event also aims to bring together like-minded executives from Northern Ontario mining supply and services companies in order to share and learn best practices for growing your business outside of Ontario through facilitated peer-to-peer discussions. In addition to learning from your peers, this event aims to strengthen your knowledge of global mining sector opportunities through the participation of Export Development Canada, the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines - Trade, Investment and Marketing Unit and featured presentations on select current North American mining projects. We are also very pleased to confirm on the forum agenda a keynote lunch presentation by Jurgen Beier, Partner, National Consulting Energy and Resources Leader, Deloitte, on ‘Tracking the Mining Trends in 2015’. The Northern Ontario Exports Forum is designed to assist companies like you who are serious about growing the export potential of your business. We believe this event will provide you with specific and actionable information to do so. ATTEND, PARTICIPATE, LEARN, and EXECUTE - we invite you and your team to roll up your sleeves and join us on June 17th in Sudbury for this unique and first of its kind forum for Northern Ontario mining supply and services companies! Please take a moment to review the forum agenda which includes an impressive line-up speakers and contributors with extensive experience in selling mining supply and services globally. We hope to see you on June 17th.
