This was a fantastic effort as Jayden was pitted against the best Shot Put throwers over her age group in the state. She will now compete in the National Championships; The Men’s Shed, Langwarrin: we are very grateful to have the assistance of these gentlemen in our Kitchen Garden over the past few weeks. This was their first camp and reports from the camp staff indicate that they were delighted with their behaviour and ‘have a go’ attitude. SCHOOL REVIEW - Yesterday the school participated in the triennial school review. An accredited reviewer and two local principals assisted our school’s leadership team in reviewing the performance of our school over the past three years. I am delighted to say that we were complimented on our performance which has focused on our students’ growth. We also highlighted LPPS’s success in educating the whole child through pastoral care and high quality specialist programs. Education is more than just facts and figures. Our Year 6 students will graduate in December not only equipped with a strong academic background but with a broad experience of the arts, PE, performance and social development. The visiting team also provided us with some excellent strategies to use in our plans for the next three years. The full details of the review will be released to the School Council at its next meeting on November 17. I will include a summary of the report in the subsequent newsletter. CONGRATULATIONS: JAYDEN TRIM (6/12) and HARRY FLYGER (6/12) On Monday, in wintery conditions, Jayden and Harry competed at the State Athletics Championships. For Harry, this was his first time competing at the state level. Harry finished 10th out of 17 students in the 12/13 Years Discus; a great result. It was Jayden’s second year competing at the State Championships; last year she finished 5th in the 11 Years Shot put. Determined to improve on her result from last year, Jayden has worked extremely hard over the last 12 months with her coach, Craig. Jayden’s hard work paid off, winning the 12/13 Shot put with an amazing ‘put’ of 11.04m and finished 2nd in the Discus with a throw of 28.65m. So, not only is Jayden a STATE CHAMPION, she will now be competing at the School Sport Australia Track and Field Championships which will be held in Tasmania from 27th November to 2nd December. An amazing achievement; congratulations Jayden. CONGRATULATIONS: YEAR 6 INTERSCHOOL BOYS SOFTBALL TEAM After winning the Murdoch District competition in Term 1, the Boys’ softball team qualified for the Northern Peninsula Division competition. The boys went straight through to the Grand Final against Rowellyn Park Primary School. Batting first, Rowellyn scored 6 home runs in their first innings. Fortunately our boys did not panic, or ‘drop their heads’. In contrast, they concentrated and worked hard to score 4 runs at the bottom of the first innings. Determined to fight to the end, our boys managed to keep the Rowellyn team scoreless in the next two innings, whilst scoring another four runs themselves. A fantastic result, the boys won the Grand Final 8 – 6. The boys have now qualified for the Regional finals which will be held on Friday 14th November. A very big thank you to our wonderful parents who not only provided the necessary transport to the venues, but also for their support; it is very much appreciated by both staff and students. Team Members:

6/9 – Jac Butler, Jake Osborne, Rhys Goodridge

6/10 – Seb Gauci, Jai Paulsen, Julian Bradshaw
