10:00 AM

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

To Him be the glory forever! Amen. Romans 11:36

1. O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL [first verse sung in Latin:] Adeste fideles laeti triumphantes,

Venite, venite in Bethlehem;

Natum videte Regem angelorum.

Venite adoremus Dominum.

[congregation join:]

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;

Come and behold him, born the King of angels;

O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation,

Sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above;

Glory to God in the highest;

O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

God of God, Light of Light;

Lo, he abhors not the virgin’s womb:

Very God, begotten, not created;

O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

Yea, Lord, we greet thee,

Born this happy morning:

Jesus, to thee be all glory giv’n;

Word of the Father, late in flesh appearing;

O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.

Amen.

2. BETHLEHEM PROMISE, BETHLEHEM JOY -Joseph Martin Bethlehem, O Bethlehem, from you shall come a Savior.

Bethlehem, O Bethlehem, from you shall come the Light.

Veni, veni. Come, O come, Emmanuel.

Bethlehem, O Bethlehem, your streets are filled with darkness.

O Bethlehem, O Bethlehem, soon stars will fill the night.

Unto us a Son is given. To us, a child is born.

He shall rule in peace forever. Zion will be restored.

Sing with jubilation! Sing out in expectation!

Sing to ev’ry nation! Sing out the glad noel.

Sing we all hosanna! Sing we all noel. Rejoice all Israel!

He shall rule as Lord of lords!

3. FOR US A CHILD IS BORN -J. S. BACH (from Cantata 142)

For us a Child is born, a Son to us is given.

Uns ist ein Kind geboren; ein Sohn ist uns gegeben.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Give praise to our God,

All raise your voices. Sing to Him from glad hearts.

For God today has giv’n us joy,

Hold fast to Him and praise His name forever.

4. ANGELS’ CAROL -John Rutter

Have you heard the sound of the angel voices ringing out

so sweetly, ringing out so clear? Have you seen the star

shining out so brightly as a sign from God that Christ the Lord

is here? Have you heard the news that they bring from heaven

to the humble shepherds who have waited long? Gloria in

excelsis Deo! Hear the angels sing their joyful song.

He is come in peace in the winter’s stillness, like a gentle

snowfall in the gentle night; He is come in joy like the sun at

morning filling all the world with radiance and with light. He

is come in love as the child of Mary; in a simple stable we have

seen His birth: Gloria in excelsis Deo! Hear the angels singing

“Peace on earth.”

He will bring new light to a world in darkness, like a

bright star shining in the skies above; He will bring new hope

to the waiting nations when He comes in purity and love. Let

the earth rejoice at the Savior’s coming; let the heavens answer

with the joyful morn: Gloria in excelsis Deo! Hear the angels

singing “Christ is born.”

5. HODIE CHRISTUS NATUS EST -Mark Hayes [sung in Latin and English]

Hodie Christus natus est!

Today Christ is born!

Hodie Salvator apparuit.

Today the Savior has appeared.

Hodie in terra canunt angeli, laetantur archangeli,

Today on earth the angels sing

and the archangels rejoice.

Hodie exsultant justi, dicentes: Gloria in excelsis Deo!

Alleluia!

Today the righteous rejoice, saying,

"Glory to God in the highest! Praise the Lord!”

6. GLORIA -Randol Alan Bass [sung in Latin]

Gloria in excelsis Deo

Glory in the highest to God

Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis.

And on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased.

Laudamus te. Benedicimus te.

We praise You. We bless You.

Adoramus te. Glorificamus te.

We adore You. We glorify You.

Gratias agimus tibi propter magnam gloriam tuam.

We give thanks to You for Your great glory,

Domine Deus, Rex coelestis, Deus Pater omnipotens.

O Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father Almighty.

Domine Fili unigenite, Jesu Christe,

O Lord, the only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Domine Deus, Agnus, Dei, Jesu, Filius Patris.

O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.

You who take away the sin of the world, have mercy upon us.

Qui tollis peccata mundi, suscipe deprecationem nostrum,

You who take away the sin of the world, receive our prayer.

Qui sedes ad dextram Patris, miserere nobis, Jesu.

You who sit at the right hand of the Father,

have mercy upon us, Jesus.

Quoniam tu solus sanctus. Tu solus Dominus,

For You only are holy; You only are the Lord,

Tu solus altissimus, Jesu Christe,

You only are most high, Jesus Christ,

Cum sancto Spiritu, in Gloria Dei Patris. Amen.

with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

7. MARY, DID YOU KNOW? -Mark Lowry, Buddy Greene with “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence” Mary, did you know

that your baby boy would one day walk on water?

Mary, did you know

that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?

Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?

This child that you delivered would soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know

that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?

Mary, did you know

that your baby boy will calm a storm with His hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?

When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again. The lame will leap, the dumb will speak the praises of the Lamb!

Mary, did you know

that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?

Mary, did you know

that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?

Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?

The sleeping child you’re holding is the great “I AM!”

8. THE FIRST NOEL -arr. Dan Forrest

The first Noel, the angels did say,

Was to certain poor shepherds in fields where they lay,

In fields where they lay keeping their sheep,

On a cold winter’s night that was so deep.

They looked up and saw a star

Shining in the east, beyond them far.

And to the earth it gave great light,

And so it continued both day and night.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel! Born is the King of Israel.

[congregation join:]

Then let us all with one accord

sing praises to our heav’nly Lord,

that hath made heav’n and earth of naught,

and with His blood mankind hath bought.

Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel! Students alone:

Born is the King, Noel! Born is the King, Noel!

Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King, Noel, Noel.

9. ADORE -Graham Kendrick, Martin Chalk You stepped down from heaven humbly, You came.

God of all creation here with us.

In a starlit manger, Emmanuel,

Light of the world here to save.

ADORE, COME LET US ADORE HIM;

WORSHIP CHRIST THE LORD.

LET ALL THAT IS WITHIN US ADORE.

Wise men bring their treasures.

Shepherds bow low. Angel voices sing of peace on earth.

What have I to offer to heaven’s King?

I will bring my life, my love, my all.

Angels sing, praises ring to the newborn King.

Peace on earth here with us, joy awakening.

At Your feet, we fall. O come, let us adore Him.

10. BELL CAROL -arr. Heather Sorenson

Ding dong! Sing we Noel, glad tidings tell,

Be of good cheer, Christmas is here.

Loudly we’re singing, church bells are ringing,

children are singing “Christmas is here!”

Trumpets are sounding, glad earth resounding,

nature is shouting “Christmas is here!”

Dark has gone away, night has turned to day.

Peace has come to earth from a little Baby’s birth!

Gloria, Gloria! Peace has come from a little Baby,

holy Infant, humble, royal birth!

Star shining bright, gone is the night,

hope has appeared, Christmas is here!

Prophets foretold, shepherds behold,

myst’ry now clear, Christmas is here!

Merry Christmas! Sing we noel, glad tidings tell.

11. RUN, SHEPHERDS! -Victor C. Johnson Run, shepherds, run and see the Baby!

Run, shepherds, to Bethlehem!

See the Baby born, the Great I AM!

There’s a star in the east on Christmas morn.

It will lead to the place where the Savior’s born.

If you take good heed to the angel’s words,

You’ll forget your flocks, you’ll forget your herds.

12. LUKE 2:1-20 [congregation join as able]

[Tune: “O little town of Bethehem”] In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that

a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.

(This was the first census that took place while

Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went

to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth

in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David,

because he belonged to the house and line of David. He

went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be

married to him and was expecting a child.

While they were there, the time came for the baby

to be born, and she gave birth to her first born, a son.

She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger,

because there was no room for them in the inn.

[Tune: “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing”] And there were shepherds living out in the fields

nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An

angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the

Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But

the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you

good news of great joy that will be for all the people.

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to

you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you:

You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a

manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host

appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men

on whom his favor rests.”

[Tune: “The First Noel”]

When the angels had left them and gone into

heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to

Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which

the Lord has told us about.” So they hurried off and

found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in

a manger.

When they had seen him, they spread the word

concerning what had been told them about this child,

and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds

said to them. But Mary treasured up all these things

and pondered them in her heart. The shepherds

returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things

they had heard and seen, which were just as they had

been told.

13. JOY TO THE WORLD! THE LORD IS COME Joy to the world! The Lord is come; let earth receive her King;

let every heart prepare him room, and heav'n and nature sing.

Joy to the earth! The Savior reigns:

let men their songs employ;

while fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains

repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,

nor thorns infest the ground;

he comes to make his blessings flow

far as the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,

and makes the nations prove

the glories of his righteousness and wonders of his love.

NCS Alumni are invited to join us for the last three songs. 14. DING! DONG! MERRILY ON HIGH -arr. Howard Helvey

Ding! Dong! Merrily on high in heav’n the bells are ringing;

Ding! Dong! Verily the sky is riv’n with angel singing.

GLORIA! HOSANNA IN EXCELSIS!

E’en so here below, below, let steeple bells be swungen,

And “io, io, io!” by priest and people sungen.

Pray you, dutifully prime your matin chime, ye ringers!

May you beautifully rime your eve-time song, ye singers!

15. AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD Isaiah 40:5 (from Messiah) -George Frederick Handel

And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall

see it together. For the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

16. HALLELUJAH Revelation 19:6; 11:15; 19:16 (from Messiah) -George Frederick Handel

Hallelujah! For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth!

The kingdom of this world is become

the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ,

and He shall reign forever and ever.

King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Hallelujah!

Northumberland Christian School was founded in 1972 to provide a

God-centered education that stimulates in the student a passion for excellence in

learning, service, and worship. The school offers a full educational program for

students from preschool through high school. We are thankful to our Lord for

the privilege of training our students in a Christian school where we may follow

His directives and look to Him to grant our students spiritual, intellectual, social,

emotional, and physical growth.

Northumberland Christian School is a ministry of the First Baptist

Church of Northumberland. Our purpose is to teach every subject from a

Biblical perspective, helping students to see all of life from God's point of view.

The ultimate goal of our entire educational process is to glorify God.

... a God-centered approach to education. We embrace a Biblical world and life view and

seek to teach students to think about all of life

based on the truth which God has revealed.

... discipleship as an essential part of the

Christian life. We teach Jesus Christ as Lord

and seek to lift the vision of each student to bow

to His authority in every aspect of life.

... worship as central to all of life. We teach

students that the most important thing in life is to

glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Music is

used extensively in worship and to fix God's

Word in our hearts and minds.

... a broad education that embraces ideas and

truths as well as skills. We offer courses in

history, science, literature, languages, and the arts

in order to develop students of character who

think deeply about life.

... pursuing excellence in acquiring skills for

continued learning and service in God's

world. We challenge students to develop math,

science, language, and computer skills which will

equip them to be used by God in the world in

which they live.

Northumberland Christian School is committed to...

We seek to

stimulate

students to

develop their

God-given
