Welcome to another NAC brochure packed with good things coming to Norwich in the Autumn. Central in this season is Norwich Sound and Vision and the live part of this has now become the John Peel Festival of New Music. This will be acrossthree nights and ten venues and has developed in conjunction with John’s family and will have a fundraising component for the new John Peel Centre for the Arts inStowmarket. On top of the Escalator Music project this development is confirming the Arts Centre as a major force in the Eastern region supporting new music.
Other highlights in this season: Jazz fans will want to see Kit Downes on 5 Sept,Americana with Simone Felice on 20 Sept, the brilliant Bollywood Brass Bandon 27 Oct, spiky comedy with Francesca Martinez on 28 Oct. A personal favouritewill be with The Jayhawks main man Gary Louris on 25 Nov.
It’s also sad to report that I’ll be leaving the Arts Centre in October so this will be thelast programme I’ll introduce. I’ve had a great 81/2 years at the helm and have hadmany life changing experiences at NAC and continually seen how much this type ofvenue is valued by the public as well as artists and musicians. I’d like to take thischance to thank all of our much valued regulars, many of whom I’ve got to know. Also funders, partner organisations and sponsors who have been supportive andunderstanding but I would particularly like to thank the staff and everyone involved with the running of the Arts Centre who have made the job so enjoyable andmemorable to me.
Stuart Hobday NAC Director

WED 28 NOV | 8PMFATHER JOHN MISTY + support‘Fear Fun’ is the new album from Father John Misty, the new monikerof Josh Tillman. When discussing ‘Father John Misty’, Tillmanparaphrases Philip Roth: “It’s all of me and none of me, if you can’tsee that, you won’t get it”. What I call it is totally arbitrary, but I likethe name. You’ve got to have a name. I never got to choose mine.’Musically, ‘Fear Fun’ consists of such disparate elements as WaylonJennings, Harry Nilsson, Arthur Russell, ‘All Things Must Pass’ and‘Physical Graffiti’.
