Tony Canzoneri and Amy Johnson share a booth at theNorwood Antique Mall. Here is a lovely description of theirpassion for art and antiques.

We are best friends and for the past year, have spent most ofour time at auctions and flea markets, pursuing our mutual loveof anything old. We opened our booth at Norwood about fourmonths ago and have been very pleased with the business we'vehad. We both have shops on Etsy and Tony also sells on Ebay.Amy is an artist and along with antiques and vintage items, herEtsy shop features her original mixed media art and jewelry. Wetruly enjoy "the thrill of the hunt" and our goal is to keep ourbooth at Norwood as interesting and diverse as possible.

Weve pictured some of the items in Amy and Tonys shop:

Childs Riding Horse, $35Jamaican Doll, $26Lantern, $24Herold Tin, $45Toy Horns, $6/$8Sunbeam Mixer, $13Boy Picture, $8All other items are priced individually.

Feel free to stop by Tony and Amys shop on your next trip toNorwood. They are very easy to find; theyre at the top of the

    staircase. Happy Shopping!

This month I have a couple of helpful tipsfor you on cleaning vintage dinnerware andcrystal.

Never put your antique china in thedishwasher. The water gets too hot and thedetergent is too strong. Always handwash! Line your sink with a heavy cloth orrubber mat. This will help prevent yourprecious china from chipping and hittingthe sides of the sink. Use warm water witha mild detergent, like Ivory. Be gentlewhen washing, never scrub.

Cleaning a stained piece of crystalstemware is a bit more involved. Swirl ahandful of uncooked rice in a solution ofwarm water and either lemon juice orvinegar in the crystal to remove any films.

    Cheers for now!

    PYREX

Highly collectible today, most cooks through theages have owned and used Pyrex. Perhaps youown a clear glass measuring cup with redmarkings?

The first factory opened in 1864, and moved in1875 to Corning, NY. The companys firstproducts were railroad signal lenses, lab andpharmaceutical items.

Cookware was introduced in 1915 after a chemisttook a container home to his wife and she baked acake in it. Hence, Pyrex cookware was born.

First was a 12-piece set, clear glass, was calledFire-Glass. Priced from $0.15 to $1.75, earlypieces have a yellow tint and a knob handle. Reddecorated followed in 1936-37. Sadly, both werefound to be poisonous due to arsenic content, forone, which was used in production.

White Pyrex appeared briefly in 1921, but wasdiscontinued due to staining. Two spoutmeasuring cups emerged in 1925. Refrigerator setsin 1929 (colors in 1949). Skillets and saucepans, called Flameware were produced from 1936 to1979.

Colorware came along in 1947, with companion

pieces soon after. Marks on these pieces featureda backward S with a line through it. Later is agreenflame backstamp.

Colors often correspond to certain periods.Turquoise, yellow and pink the 1950s. Golds, green, orange in the 1960s. Cinderella sets, withhandles, through the mid-70s and from there manyother designs appeared. Pyrex was also producedin England, France and Canada.

Youll find a large selection of Pyrex at Norwood. Most of our shops have a healthy selection of thiswell-loved kitchen essential. Now, the question iswhat is your favorite styleand color?
