What is Federated Search?
An application or service that allows a user to submit a search:
1) In parallel from one input form to the search engines of multiple collections (e.g. library catalogs, public databases, commercial abstracts and full text databases, and web search engines).
2) Retrieve aggregated, ranked and de-duped results from all sources.
