Notes from the Pastor
** 2014 Another Year, another opportunity 2013 is gone: 2014 is here. Each New Year gives us a new beginning, to relook at our lives, to start anew. I would ask that this year might be a good time and opportunity to focus on the spiritual aspects of our lives rather than the material. Let us resolve to be more prayerful, more compassionate, more forgiving, and to love our family and neighbors a little bit more. We can’t change the world, but we can change ourselves. May we grow as Catholic Christians in the love of Jesus and, with the help of God, to make 2014 a better year for ourselves and for all in our lives. Happy New Beginnings! **My thanks to all of you for your wonderful Christmas gifts, food, and Christmas cards. How blessed I am to be pastor of St. James in Seguin. God bless you all. **There will be a reunion gathering in the parish hall after the noon Mass on January 12th of those who went to the Holy Land this past October. Please bring a covered dish and your pictures.

Quote of the Week:
What does love look like? It has feet to go to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of others.

Prayer for the New Year
Dear Lord,
We pray that this New Year will bring us closer to You. May we take the time to get to know You. Help us to truly celebrate the gifts You have graciously given us and use them to serve You and spread Your word,
May we also see and love you in all the people we meet, so that in turn, they can see You in us.
We know that all human relations take time if they are to grow and deepen. This is also true of our relations with You, the Father and the Holy Spirit, which must grow over the course of our lives. In this new year, let us realize that every action of ours no matter how great or small enables us to be in touch with You. Let us accept You in our lives, in the way it pleases You, as Truth, to be spoken, as Life, to be lived, as Light, to be lighted, as Love, to be followed, as Joy, to be given, as Peace, to be spread about, as Sacrifice, to be offered among our relatives, friends, neighbors and all people. Amen.
