5. Classes and rating systems 5.1 Handicap Categories The competitor list (Start list) will indicate which class a boat is assigned to, when that class is starting and what course the class will sail. 5.1.1 Rating classes There will be classes for boats holding a valid rating certificate from NOR-rating, NOR-rating –Shorthanded. Boats competing in the NOR-rating- non spinnaker classes are not allowed to use flying headsails. The Race Committee in its discretion may allocate boats to divisions within a handicap category. Within any such handicap category, all boats will be scored in the overall result. 5.1.2 Cruising classes The Organizing Authority's preference is that as many boats as possible will be using a rating system based on physical measurements of a boat made by a certified measurer. The recommendation is therefore that rather than starting in a cruising class, boats enter in the more balanced rating classes. All competitors in Cruising Class shall sail without any kind of spinnakers (including gennaker / code zero etc) or flying headsail. A maximum of 2 headsails shall be used at the same time, with max sum of JPL/LPG =1,5*J. J = distance between the mast and the forestay’s fastening to the deck. Cruising classes are sailing scratch. The Race Committee in its discretion may allocate boats to divisions within a category.

6. Changes to the Racing Rules of Sailing

RRS 32: is changed in that there will be no shortening of the course for any classes. RRS 44.1 and 44.2 are changed as follows: A boat may not exonerate herself for a breach of a rule of Part 2 by taking a Two-Turns Penalty, nor may she exonerate herself for touching a mark by taking a One-Turn Penalty. RRS 42: A boat in the Cruising Division may use its engine for propulsion from two hours after its starting signal. That use must cease prior to the boat finishing. Engine hours and miles covered under engine must be logged. RRS 51: A boat with movable ballast or variable ballast (within the meaning of those terms in the Special Regulations) may move that ballast for the purpose of changing trim or stability.
