Year 4 have got Talent!

Students in Year 4 were given the opportunity to showcase some of their skills this week in the Year 4 Talent Show. The show was created just for fun and participation was voluntary. Students spent their own time perfecting their talents and presented them with confidence to Year 3 and 4. We had enthusiastic show hosts, two original music compositions as well as lots of singing and dancing. Year 3 students look forward to having a turn at showing their talents during Term 4.

Year 3 and SG Visit Awabakal Education Centre

Last Thursday 30 August students from SG and Year 3 had an amazing day at the Awabakal Education Centre in Dudley. We had glorious weather for a walk through the nature reserve where students got to participate in Gunyah making, coolamon making and ochre painting as well as take in the amazing scenery whilst listing to Aboriginal Dreaming stories. At the education centre students enjoyed the opportunity to touch Aboriginal artefacts and tools whilst they learnt about how they were made and their uses. The students were complimented on their knowledge and wonderful listening skills. It was a great day and we were very impressed. Also, a big thank you to Mrs Jaunalksnis for being our parent helper on the day.

Our very talented HSPS Concert Band has been asked to provide the entertainment at the Hamilton Child Care Centre Movie Night Fundraiser. The performance date is Saturday September 15 at Gregson Park and we will be performing from 5:00pm - 5:30pm. A note was sent home last Friday asking students to let me know if they are available for this performance. Information about this event has been advertised in the school noticeboard, and there will be lots of activities for children and families on the night. This is a wonderful opportunity for our Concert Band to perform outside of our normal school based activities. Notes were sent home last Friday asking Concert Band members to let me know if they are available on Saturday September 15th for this performance. I cannot commit to the performance without knowing that we will have enough of our band members there on the night. If you could please complete the form on the bottom of the note or send me an email ASAP to let me know if you are/are not available that would be fantastic. I would like to let Hamilton Child Care Centre know ASAP if we can provide the entertainment of our community on that date! Don't forget our Term 3 Band Committee Meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday September 12 at 6:00pm in the school staff room. All parents and carers are welcome and encouraged to attend. This meeting will be focusing on performance opportunities that are coming up towards the end of term and our participation in BandFest in Week 2 of Term 4. We are still seeking new members to join our committee in 2019. We will be looking for parents who can assist with the collection and hiring of our school owned instruments in 2019 and onward AND we will also need to look at a new member to step into the role as our Committee Secretary. If you think that you may be interested in taking on one of these roles in 2019 we would love to see you at our meeting on September 12. Don't forget to let your tutor know if you will be absent, on holidays or will be participating in school activities (Robocup, debating, soccer, basketball etc.) so they can re arrange your lesson time. As always if you have any questions, queries or comments please feel free to email me at [email protected]

BAND FEES

Please do not pay your band fees online to the school account. Band fees are paid to the P&C.
