Rejoicing on the Anniversary of the Earthquake

This weekend the President declared three days of

fasting and prayer, and many people took it to heart.

From our CIMO friends to the little children who come

to ask for water, all kinds of people rose before dawn to

gather and pray for Haiti. The music began to play at

4:30am on Friday! Many of our Haitian volunteers

fasted until the afternoon; lady policewomen gathered

on a cot on the roof to pray. Marking the anniversary of

the earthquake, thousands of people thronged to the

streets around the Palace, waving Haitian flags, tubas,

and tree branches. Instead of protesting, they flooded

the streets with song. Port-au-Prince has hope.

Mision Rescate has been operating out of the national

police headquarter parking lot here across from the

Palace for a month now. We’ve grown as an organic

response to the earthquake, mostly a medical clinic that

partners with churches, volunteers, and organizations

from all over the world. We’re thankful for each person

who has joined our team, as we together seek to lift up

Jesus’ name and offer healing, food, and a helping hand

to our Haitian brothers and sisters.

Pray with Us

We thank God wholeheartedly for uniting the Haitian

church in prayer, repentance, thanksgiving, worship,

and new purpose this weekend. Thank God for

postponing rain for so many weeks, and that the rain

that has arrived recently has usually not lasted more

than a few hours. Pray that God would send to this city

more people who will fight to get supplies and aid to

secluded and hard-to-reach neighborhoods. What does

He see? What does He desire? What are His purposes

and dreams for Port-au-Prince and for Haiti as a whole?

Pray for the health of our volunteers, and thank God for

giving us surprising strength and resilience.

Promises in Isaiah 54

Last night in a time of

prayer and sharing, a

woman from Puerto

Rico shared about Isa

54. God drew the

heart of her team to

this passage when they

were praying for Haiti

in PR, and she led us in

declaring these

promises for Haiti and

Port-au-Prince from

here, across from the Palace.

To Give Healing and Food

Patients: Yesterday even with 4 doctors and 18 medical

staff (less than a third of what we had a week ago), we

saw more than 400 patients.

Food distribution: We served 1,700 hot meals directly

from our tents here in the CIMO police parking lot.

Sometimes we also take meals to remote distribution

points. In addition to meals, today we gave out 400

food package bags daily, plus crackers and milk to all

patients at the clinic in the mornings. In the evenings,

we distribute banana bread along with blankets and

towels.

Our Prayer for Haiti…

Sing! Fear not; you will no

longer live in shame. Don’t

be afraid; there is no more

disgrace for you... For the

mountains may move and

the hills disappear, but even

then your Father’s faithful love for you will remain. His

covenant of blessing will never be broken. He will

rebuild you.

What are our current needs?

We need people committed to pray for God’s

completion and sealing of revival, transformation, and

healing in Haiti. We need tents, tarps, blankets, towels,

and supplies for babies. We have already been able to

distribute some family-size tents, 150 tarps, and 600

blankets and towels to people living on the streets or in

refugee camps. Yesterday the late-night blanket and

banana bread distribution team found a refugee camp

with a hundred families, where not one family even had

a tarp. We need basic supplies but even more we need

God’s heart for the people of Port-au-Prince. Pray that

God would send doctors, medical personnel, and

volunteers who share his love for Haiti.

Thank you for joining

our effort with your

gifts, prayers, and

presence. We thank

God for you.

Blessings from all of

us here at Mision
