NOTIFICATION

In exercise of the power conferred by section 23 read with Section 51 -A of IndianElectricity Act, 1910 (Central Act 9 of 1910) and in supersession of all existingnotifications, in this regards, the Administrator of Daman & Diu is pleased to order thefollowing tariffs, specfied in the schedule appended to this notification for supply ofelectrical energy to the consumers in the Union Territory of Daman & Diu.

$DMEDULE

1. General Conditions:

These tariffs shall be applicable with effect from ()1/09/2002.

2. These tariffs shall be subject of revision andlior levy of surcharges as mayhe decided by

the Administration of Daman & Di;, from time to time.

3. These tariffs shall be subject to the terms and conditions for power supply approved fromtime to time by the Administration.

4. Supply of energy in all cases shall be subject to the execution of agreement by consumers

5_ As a general rule , no L T. Voltage service shall be given where the connected load isover 100 KVA. Exception may be made in special cases at the discreation of thedepartment.

6. Supply to consumers having connected load between 100 KVA to 1500 KVA will be

generally at 11 KV and for more than 1500 KVA at 66 KV. However, the voltage of supply,shall be the discreation of the department.

7_ If energy supplied for a specific purpose under a particular tariff is used for a different

purpose not cotemplated to the contract for supply and tor for which higher tariff isapplicable, it will be deemed as misuse and stealing of energy within the meaning of theIndian Electricity Act. 1910 . In such case , the energy consumption bills already renderedfor the service shall be revised by applying the appropriate higher tariff plus penalty of25% of the higher of two tariff from the date of connection unless convincing reasonsare adduced thereof for adopting a different period. The imposition of this higher tariffshall not relieve the consumer from any penalties as per law

9. If the consumer fails to pay the energy bill presented to him within the stipulated period,the Electricity Department shall have the right to disconnect the supply after servingSeven days clear notice on such consumer.

10. In case any dispute arises about the applicability of any tariff to particular class ofservice or as to the interpretation of any clause of these tariffs, the decision of theAdministration of Daman & Diu shall be final and binding.

11. Definitions :

1. Connected load means the sum of rated capacities of all the energy consuming devices,which can be operated simulataneosly. This will be expressed in KW/KVA, One H.P. willbe considered equivalent to one KVA for equipment rates in H. P.

2. Maximum demand means the average KVA supplied during the 30 minutes period (orany other shorter period as may be prescribe by the Electricity Department ) of maximumuse in a month.

3• Contract demand means the maximum KVA for which the Electricity Department hasundertaken to provide facilities from time to time.

4. Billing demand means either :

(i) The actual maximum demand during the month ; or

(ii) 75% of contract demand

(iii) Actual maximum demand during the previous 3 (three) months ; or

(iv) 50 KVA whichever is higher. However, if the actual maximum demand is foundto be exceeding the contracted demand, the increase in billing demand beyondthe contracted demand shall be charges at dobule the normal rate.

III. Low Tension Su-n

(a) Tarrff LTD/Domestic :

Applicable to private houses, bungalows, clubs, hostels and hospitals run on non commerciallines, charitable educational and religious institutions etc. for lights, fans radios, domestic heatingand other household appliances.

Energy Charges :

(b) Tariff LTD/ L!G :

Applicable to consumers of Low Income Group with conncted load 2 x 40 watts only.

Energy charges - As 10/- per service connection per Month.

Note : For any unauthorised increase in load beyond 2 x 40 watts, penal charges 0 As 101-per month shall be levied and the installation shall be liable for disconnection.

2.Tarrif LT-C/Commercial :

Applicable to shops, offices, railway stations, hotels (not registered with roursrmDepartment), restaurants, photographic studios, X - rays installation, laundry drycleaners cinemas, theaters, AIR Doordarshan Station, telephone exchanges and

other commercial installation for lights, fans radios. heating and other appliances

Energy Charges :

1" - 100 units - 205 ps. per unit,beyond 100 units - 270 ps. per unit.

Minimum Charges :

(a) Singal phase - Rs. 25/- per month or part thereofFirst 500 watts or part thereof

For every additional 500 - Rs . 251- per month or part thereofwatts or part Thereof

(b) Three Phase -Rs. 351- per H P/ KVA? KW per month orpart thereof.

3. Tarrif LT-P/Motive Power :

Applicable to all low tension industrial and non-industrial motive power connectionsincluding PWD Water Works up to 99 HP Hotels registered with Tourism Department

Energy Charges :

All connections up to 20 HP - 230 ps per unit,of connected load.

For alt connections above 20 HP - Fixed chargs As 251'- per HP! month orand up to 99 HP connected load part thereof

Minimum Charges :

As. 25/- (Twenty five) per HP/ monthof connected load or part thereof

(i) Supply under this tariff will be given for a minimum of 3 BHP. If any load less

than 3 BHP is required by the consumer minimum bill shall be charged on thebasis of load of 3 BHP?

(ii) The power factor should not in any case fall below 0.85 lagging If the power

factor is lower than 0.85 lagging, the consumer shall install capacitors to bring

the power factor to at least 0.85 lagging. Incase the power factor is found tobe lower than 0.85 lagging, penal charges at the rate of 2.5% on the monthly

bill corresponding to the energy charges only shall be levied. In case power

factor is less than 0.7 lagging, the installation is liable to be disconncted.Further, the Electricity Department reserves the right to install a suitable

capacitor at its own cost and recover the cost thereof as arrears of energy Charges.

4. Tarrif LT-AG/Agriculture:

Applicable to irrigation purnping and agriculture purposes , poultry, dairy, piggery,pisciculture etc. for lights heating and other appliances.

Energy Charges :

Up to 10 HP of connected load - 55 ps. per unit for all units consumed

Beyond 10 HP connected load - 85 ps. per unit for all units consumed

Minimum Charges :

Pis. 8/- (eight) per month! HP of connected load or part thereof, Subject to minimum of 3 HP

NOTE _

(i) Bonafide lighting of the pump house up to 5% of motive powerconsumption is permitted under this category and excess consumptionchargeable at tariff LTD/ Domestic under III. 1 (a).

(ii) The power factor should not in any case fall below 0.85 lagging. If the power

factor is lower than 0.85 lagging, the consumer shall install capacitors to bring

the power factor to at least 0. 85 lagging In case the power factor is found to

be lower than 0.85 lagging, a penal charge at the rate of 2.5% on the monthly

bill corresponding to energy charges only shall be levied. In case the power

factor is less than 0.7 lagging, the installation is liable to be disconected.

Further, the Electricity Department reserves the right to install a suitable

capacitor as its own cost and recover the cost thereof as arrears of energy charges.

5. Tarrit LT- PU Pubilc Lighting :

Applicable to Public Lighting System including signal system and park lighting

belonging to local authorities such as Municipalities i Panchayats etc. This is alsoapplicable to public lighting of Government / Semi- Government establishments.

6. HIGH - TENSION SUPPLY :Tarrif H.T.C.App.icable for all industries ! motive power . non ndustrr.r^ sir :^mr=r, rlnlr^lregistered with Tourism Department having a contract demand of 100 KVA andabove.

(a)Demand Charges :

(i) For billing demand up to contract - Rs. 601- per KVA per month or part

demand thereof

Iii) For billing demand in excess of - Rs 1801- KVA per month or part thereofcontract

(b) Energy Charges for all units :PLUS

For all KVA contract demand for - 235 ps per unit50000 units.

Beyond 50,000 units 245 ps, per unit

NOTE :

(a) The Power factor shall not in any case fall below 0.85 lagging. In case thepower factor is found to be lower than 0 85 lagging: penal charges at the rate of

0 5 % in the monthly bill corrsponding to demand charges and energy chargesonly shall be leived for every 0.01 by which the power factor falls below 0 85

lagging. In case the power factor is less than 0.7 lagging, the installation is liablefor dissconnection. Further, the Electricity Department reserves the right to installcapacitors to improve the power factor and recover the cost incurred thereon asarrears of energy charges.

( b) It industries are over drawing power by more then 20% Ine;r ;;onnection ,,,heal;be disconnected immediately

(c) If the power factor is less then 0.5 lagging the energy charges shall be billedon KVAH units instead of KWH units.

2. (a) In case exceeding the contract demand, Other than technical reasons, oradding additional load by the high tension consumers and sanctioned load by the

low tension consumers by adding additional load, the penalty charges as per part-IIIcondition V (d) and (e) of conditions & Mics. charges for supply of electricalenergy in the Union Territory of Daman & Diu published under notification No 125 (5)/Ele;881 299 dated 16;411993 shall be charged in regular bias itself, whichis reproduced below.

b) Exceeding the contracted load by a consumer without specific permission ofthe Department.

(c) Unauthorised addition, alteration and/or extension to consumer s electrical

installation without the permission of the Department

It the entire energy consumption has been recorded in the meter. the quantum of

energy bearing the same ratio of the total energy recorded in the meter as the

excess load or the unauthorised addition/extention of load bears to the total

connected load as detected at the time of cheching shall be charged at 400 ps

per unit (subject to revision by the tarrif committee as an when necessary) and the

remaining consumption shall be charged at the appropriate tarrif provided that the

amount billed under the former part shall not be considered towards the minimum

charges payable by the consumer under the provision of the appropriate tarot."

3 THE SECURITY DEPOSIT:

The HT consumers shall have to furnish the Bank Guarantee or fixed Deposit in

favour of Executive Engineer, Electricity Department. Daman & Diu for a period of

Five years at the rate of As. 1500/- per KVA or equivalent to three months

average energy consumption whichever higher.

7. Temporary Supply :

(i) Singal phase supply :Energy charges 450 ps. per unitMinimum charges .. As. 25/- per day for supply up to 3 days

and As. 101- thereafter.

(ii) Three phase supplyEnergy charges - 450 ps. per unit.Minimum Charges As. 351- per day HP or part thereof

NTF,..The above temporary tarot are applicable for temporary supply up to tile morilh

which may be extended to another period of supply with the permission of the

department for which similar tarriff will repeat

IV Meter Rental Charges,(a) For Permanent supply :1. Singal phase meter - As. 2i- per month or part thereof

2. Three phase meters - As. 5/- per month or part thereof

3. LT meter with M. D. - As. 50/• per month

NQTE.

The type of meters to be installed in the consumers premises will be decided by thedepartment . Generally , the cosumers having connected load above 50 HP will beprovided with L.T. M.D. l. meter.

(B) Service connection charges for UIG lines:(a) Singal phase cosumers

(i) Area outside municipal limit - Full cost plus 15% supervision charges(ii) Area within municipal limit - As. 150/- plus As. 40/- per meter beyond

30 meters.

(i) Area outside municipal limit - Full cost plus 15% supervision charges(ii) Area within municipal limit - As. 550/- plus As 60' per motor beyond

30 meters

(b) Three phase consumers

(c) In case of LIP connection (both industria,' and non- industrial) U/G service cableand metering system approved by the department will have to be provided bythe consumer at his own cost.

(C) Service connection charges for HT supply:

For first 500 KVA CD - As. 5000/.

Beyond 500 KVA CD - As. 800/- per 100 KVA or part thereof

VII Meter Board/ B or cutout installation charges_;The metering board and MCB or cutouts shall be provided by the department asper approved standards and the cosumer shall pay the charges as per demand note atthe estimated cost.

In case of multi- storey building all meter including that of ground floor houses /

shops shall be installed by the building owner/developer at a location in ground floor

approved by the department. The metering system shall be on a common board,

fully concealed with protective encloser as per department approved drawing The

building owner/developer shall provide service cable of approved size and qualityfrom metering point up to the nearest source of power supply.
