Time Out Station
Our vision is to have a beautiful, eco-friendly, safe, high-quality, Train
Station style accommodation for people going through tough-times. We
want to offer them “Time Out”; to be able to rest in their personal journey,
before getting back on track. (Yes, we plan to have a length of track out the
front!).
Everyone knows someone going through treatments such as chemotherapy,
or people having to come to Adelaide while their spouse is rushed to
hospital. Some people just need time out from over-whelming jobs and
lives. Our Station would be something like a Ronald McDonald House for
adults. Visitors will be able to enjoy peace and time-out, hopefully aiding in
their recovery and mental well-being. They would have the privacy of their
own paddock with a beautiful view over gum trees, a dam, the twinkly-
lights of Adelaide in the distance and then the ocean. Our outlook is
extremely beautiful and peaceful, conveniently located only 10-15 minutes
from hospitals, beaches, shopping centres and top tourism destinations
such as McLaren Vale. Visitors will have free access to our fruit trees and
vegetable patch and of course fresh eggs every day!
We do not wish to charge for this accommodation. We feel very blessed to
have our farm and we just want to share it.
In presenting this idea to our Church Pastor he gave us a lot of
encouragement to pursue this project, as he knows first hand of the need
for this in the local community. Our State MP (Nat Cooke) is extremely
supportive as are many local businesses willing to donate and assist in a
variety of ways.
We are 100% committed to this project. We will work with council to
provide an excellent, unique and healing experience for the “tough timers”.
If required, we would love the opportunity to come and talk in person
about any part of this project.
We feel this fits in absolutely perfectly with Onkaparinga City’s mission
statement of ”We place emphasis on innovation, community
engagement and sustainability.” Our accommodation will be a location
that you can be very proud of in your precinct.
