Nouns

Nouns are naming words. They are used to name things, people and places (e.g. dog, brother, house).

All French nouns are either masculine (m) or feminine (f). Learning the gender of people is easy – men are masculine and women are feminine, e.g. le père (m), la mère (f). However, the gender of all words must be learned by heart, e.g. la table (f), le stylo (m).

Some verbs follow their own pattern. They are called irregular verbs and être (to be) is one of them.

La maison de Lisa

Je m’appelle Lisa et j’habite dans une grande maison. J’adore ma chambre! Dans ma chambre il y a un lit, une chaise, mon sac à dos et mon ordinateur. L’ordinateur est sur la table et mon chat - Boule de neige – est sous mon lit. Il y a trois livres dans mon sac à dos. Dans ma maison, il y a une cuisine, deux salles de bains, cinq chambres et bien sûr un salon énorme!
