Membre du CIO, il collabore étroitement avec Juan Antonio Samaranch qui, depuis qu'il a repris la présidence du CIO, a su insuffler un dynamisme nouveau au mouvement olympique dans les conditions politiques difficiles de notre époque. This project looks at the role of the Olympic Games’ cultural programme in fostering local creativity in the host region. In particular, the focus of the study is on the development of local talent and entrepreneurship and on the enhancement of local creativity as a result of the Cultural Olympiad. A case study approach, based on two case studies (Turin 2006 and London 2012) was used. Face-to-face interviews and a qualitative e-mail survey were selected as the most appropriate methods.

Davidson, Max Fields of courage: the bravest chapters in sport London: Little, Brown, 2011. – 272 p.: ill. – ISBN 9781408702178 CIO MA 24756 * classif.: 079:92 Le point commun entre les cinquante histoires racontées par Max Davidson dans ce livre est le courage exemplaire démontré par de grandes sportives et de grands sportifs. Certains ont révélé leur courage à la quête d’un exploit sportif, en repoussant leurs limites et bravant la douleur et les blessures. D’autres se sont révélés hors du terrain, par des prises de positions courageuses ou par le soutien de causes qu’ils estimaient justes. La sélection d’athlètes retenue par Davidson est très large. Parmi les olympiens, on retrouve notamment la « divine » Suzanne Lenglen, l’américain Al Oerter, quadruple médaillé d’or consécutif au lancer du disque entre 1956 et 1968 ou encore l’écossais Eric Liddell, vainqueur du 400m aux Jeux Olympiques de Paris 1924 et immortalisé ultérieurement par le film Les Chariots de feu. Il y a aussi l’histoire de Wilma Rudolph, née dans le ghetto noir de Clarksville et dont l’enfance est marquée par la maladie, qui remporte trois médailles d’or aux Jeux Olympiques de Rome 1960 (100m, 200m et relais 4x100m). Elle est aujourd’hui encore considérée comme un modèle pour toutes les athlètes noires américaines. L’histoire d’Eleanor Simmonds, adolescente de 13 ans atteinte d’achondroplasie et qui remporte deux médailles d’or aux Jeux Paralympiques de Beijing 2008 (100m et 400m nage libre) est exemplaire aussi. Celle de Derek Redmond l’est tout autant. Alors qu’il filait vers la victoire en demi-finale du 400m aux Jeux Olympiques de Barcelone 1992, l’anglais est foudroyé par une déchirure au tendon du genou. Il se relève alors et tente de finir le tour de piste. Rejoint par son père qui le soutiendra jusqu'à la ligne d'arrivée, il termine sa course sous les acclamations.
